PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Working under minimal direction and partnering effectively with Ethics, Legal and other HR groups, conducts investigations into potential Business Code of Conduct violations assigned to HR by the Office of Ethics and Compliance and any other potential violations of Human Resources policies, as assigned. Independently manages cases through the following phases of the investigation cycle: complaint intake, investigative strategy, and execution of investigation including preparation of investigatory findings of fact and analysis of whether facts found constitute violations of the Code or other policies.  Ensures investigation conducted is thorough, fair, objective, and consistent with investigation best practices.   Performs a review of prior corrective actions applied in similar situations and makes recommendations as to appropriate corrective actions resulting from current investigations with an eye toward ensuring accountability and promoting consistency across Exelon business units in enforcement of the Business Code of Conduct, the Policy against Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation, and the Policy against Sexual Harassment.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Investigate or provide oversight over the investigation process of assigned cases. Ensure consistent and objective application of investigation best practices. Provide guidance on comparables and, where appropriate, recommendations as to potential corrective actions.
  • Accurately report and track assigned investigations.  Analyze case metrics for trends or potential risks. Support development of recommendations to address those trends.
  • Provide mentorship for other Investigation Specialists and additional HR support, where applicable, and input into the strategy, policy and process of the investigation team 
  • Educate stakeholders, including the business, on investigative best practices.
  • Identify and provide insights with goal of continuous improvement to drive cultural change relating to an inclusive and respectful workplace environment

POSITION SCOPE 

  • Interacts with business leadership, embedded HR, Ethics, and Legal counsel at all levels.
  • Requires a comprehensive working knowledge of company policies, procedures, and interdependencies (and the Collective Bargaining Agreements, where applicable).
  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion within established policies
    *25% travel requirement post Covid-19
    *Open to both East and/or West based candidates

Qualifications

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

Minimum:

Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources or related field

8+ years of strong HR operations experience or HR specialist area in a matrix organization

Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including knowledge of EEO, ADA and FMLA.

Proven investigation skills in investigating.

Ability to provide verbal and written communications clearly, succinctly and persuasively.

 

Ability to serve as a trusted advisor dealing directly with stakeholders to establish trust, communicate diplomatically and effectively, and foster culture change.

Proven ability to engender the trust and confidence of others, protect confidential information, and handle sensitive investigations with tact and diplomacy

 

Preferred:

Advanced degree, MBA or Masters Degree in related HR field.

Ability to understand problems in the context of the bigger picture and influential relationships as well as the overall industry and marketplace in which Exelon operates.

Working knowledge of company policies, procedures, and Collective Bargaining Agreements
