PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for managing, all aspects of the company-level grant-making activities and supports the corporate relations lead. Counsels executive leaders with respect to corporate giving strategies, board placements, fundraising, and other community relations activities in order to enhance the company’s visibility and reputation as a community partner, and to improve and strengthen the communities the company serves...

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Manage the execution and management of the company level corporate grant-making strategy. Manages the matching gift and company-level corporate membership programs, as well as contributions processed through company foundations.
• Investigate and advise the merits of specific contribution requests, attendance and participation at fundraising events, and coordinate executive support on special projects. Investigates requests received from various organizations seeking support, determines merit of request received based on the company’s strategic philosophy on philanthropy and corporate priorities and, using discretion, determines which appeals warrant consideration or rejection.
• Work with cross-functional teams to integrate corporate giving strategy into communications, marketing and external affairs to build corporate citizenship brand.
• Manage relationships with community organizations, cultural institutions and corporate partners.
• Monitor and evaluate grant-making initiatives in support of community analytics strategy.  

JOB SCOPE

• An incumbent will be in regular contact with a number of external groups including the management of other companies, directors of non-profit agencies, media and customers/shareholders.
• Requires ability to present a high level of project leadership, writing and organizational skills required.
• One must develop strong internal and external contacts and relationships across a wide range of management levels.
• Requires the ability to operate independently with little or no supervision with the authority to make decisions and recommendations on behalf of the company.
• Requires familiarity with volunteer programs and the non-profit sector.

• Note: Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24x7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• 4-year relevant degree and a minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in internal or external communications.
• Broad understanding of corporate philanthropy, with at least 4 years' experience in corporate giving or a related position.
• Strong project management, writing and organizational visual skills.
• Familiarity with non-profit and philanthropic landscape. Requires a high degree of communications and interpersonal skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in degree in communications, business or a related field.
• 5 years’ general communications experience, with at least 5 years’ experience in corporate giving or a related position.
• Exceptional project management, writing and visual skills.
