PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

This position is responsible to establish policy and long-term strategic plans for the repair, replacement, and maintenance of the T&D plant assets. This position is a direct report to the Dir � Asset Performance. Develops and implements a standard repeatable process to assess the material condition of the $11B of delivery system assets. Directs and integrates long term, strategic, asset management focus on Electric Distribution and Transmission assets including the analysis of specific equipment and system performance; identification of trends and gaps; generation of solution options (distribution maintenance / replacement plan); impacts on system; determination of effect on business targets; and evaluating operational risks. Monitors the preventative maintenance program and works with subject matter experts to define the maintenance program templates. In concert with industry benchmarking, leads strategic direction and vision in the research and application of technology to develop innovative maintenance systems and practices. Represents Company in national and international industry forums. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Directs strategic long-range asset management focus on electric distribution, substation, and transmission equipment developing a standard repeatable process to assess the material condition of delivery system assets applying risk management strategies and utilizing gap analysis, reliability centered maintenance, life cycle cost techniques, and financial and operational metrics to improve and achieve performance measures (30%)
  • Interface with Corporate, to determine business targets and establish long-term goals intended to drive improvement. Set incentive targets and align EEG goals with overall corporate strategic plan. Communicate programs, Business Plan, and metrics. (20%)
  • Sets direction by recommending process improvements, providing feedback to develop subordinates, reviewing performance, and preparing appraisals. Manages internal interfaces by resolving disputes, aligning goals and targets, removing obstacles, and enabling performance of the Department. (15%)
  • Leverages groups' technical expertise to support new, products, systems, materials, and equipment, and to solve unusually complex problems. (15%)
  • Interacts with industry peers on highly significant matters and on strategic developments within the industry. (10%)
  • Establish, maintain and improve relationships with other departments in Exelon and the regional operating companies. (10%)

JOB SCOPE
  • Reports to the Director, Asset Performance and is responsible for a staff of 10 professional employees. Employee make-up is primarily degreed engineers.
  • Manages a departmental budget of over $1 million.
  • Manages development and application of a standard repeatable approach for assessing the company's $11B of installed delivery system assets and apply this methodology to assess the health of the assets. Based upon system and component health, develop a long-term investment strategy to maintain/improve the material condition of the system.
  • Develop and apply a condition based risk management approach across all types of work and work categories to assist senior leadership with finalizing expenditure planning on delivery system expenditures to achieve performance targets while managing risk.
  • Facilitates the management and incorporation project value analysis to optimize project scope and execution
  • Facilitate strategic initiatives across multiple departments, ex. Engineering Excellence.
  • Operates autonomously with wide latitude for un-reviewed actions and decisions. Establishes performance goals and expectations, coaches, mentors and provides feedback to direct reports.
  • Provides policy and risk assessment on system and equipment in conjunction with strategic long-range focus, to support the Distribution and Transmission budget. Maximizes the utilization of billion dollar assets while decreasing capital investment in facilities. Prioritizes, implements, and tracks the maintenance and replacement operational spending plan.
  • Builds strategic alignment with senior management, Exelon Nuclear & key management peers (DSO, TSO, C&M, P&CM, T&S).
  • Has frequent contact with industry associates and peers, both directly and through industry committees. Liaison activities with EPRI, NEEETRAC, and similar research organizations. Interacts with upper level managers of other utilities to solve mutual concerns and conflicts. Early identification of industry trends can have multi-million dollar impacts on Distribution and Transmission business plans.
  • Authorized to establish system wide policies for the maintenance and replacement of new major equipment or systems impacting the efficiency and reliability of the total Distribution and Transmission systems.
  • Meet with regulators and government officials as necessary to support engineering practices and to confer on Company Operating and Maintenance procedures and policies. Supports investigations and implement policies and procedures for any corrective action taken. Direct Reports: 10 Total Budget: $1M

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience - At least 15 years of industry experience, including at least 5 years as an electric T&D supervisor and/or manager.
  • Certifications/Licenses � Valid driver's license
  • Knowledge � o Demonstrated knowledge of distribution and transmission systems and operations. o Ability and expertise to apply advanced technical and scientific concepts and theories to practical utility system design and operation. o Knowledge of electric utility maintenance activities, strategic focus, vision, and broad knowledge of utility industry.
  • Skills � o Self-directed, with a high level of initiative for setting strategic focus and vision. o Demonstrated ability to champion change, and lead by example to achieve desired results. o Ability to foster excellence by building partnerships and valuing the diversity of people. o Ability to motivate work-teams, manage workload, and perform risk analysis and gap analysis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education - Graduate degree or Graduate Level work in Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
  • Experience � Reliability centered maintenance experience.
