PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
- Manage, plan, organize, lead and control the systems, processes, and activities of the Billing department to maintain and deliver optimum quality service to customers, maximize employee productivity and profitability to the Company.
- Establish work plans and operating procedures to drive toward reduced costs, minimized billing exceptions, a reduction in the number of bill adjustments, automated manual billing processes, and tightened financial controls. Concurrently maintain a positive impact on the meter-to-market cycle and an increase in customer satisfaction.
- Day-to-day responsibilities include ensuring timely and accurate billing, manual production of complex bills, timely processing of bill exceptions, and adjustments, and corrections. Budget, personnel, business processes and overall performance for the department. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide direction and monitoring of the daily workflow of the Billing department (Metering, Service Orders, Net Metering and Special Billing Functions). Establish standards, direct programs in cost control, safety and attendance.
- Manage, collaborate with, develop, evaluate and instruct supervisors and other management personnel in the Billing department. Build supervision and subject matter expert talent within the department.
- Provide day-to-day operational direction with a focus on internal and external process improvements to optimize financials and staffing, and reduce inflow and cycle time of exception tasks.
- Compile, interpret, and furnish data in conjunction with personnel, audit, and performance accountability reports. - Provide governance of the Summary Billing Program.
- Maintain oversight for MDM application, access controls and compliance reporting - Provide oversight of Supplier Managed Resources: Contractual review, audit controls, financial oversight and strategic planning.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum:
- Bachelors degree + 8 to 10 years experience
- Career level experience of 5 to 8 years in Customer Service business unit. Familiarity with electric (and gas) rates.
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills. Ability to reach agreement across departmental boundaries.
- Computer literacy required and general understanding of customer information systems.
- Good oral and written communication skills. Strong analytical skills. A technical and financial aptitude.
- General knowledge of employee related procedures, policies and processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Customer Care and Billing and Meter Data Management applications.
Qualifications
- Lead one of the Exelon Company's Billing departments and processes. This includes overall responsibility for budget, personnel, business process and performance of the department.
- From 1.4 million electric & gas customers billed monthly.
Direct and manage personnel in one of Exelons Billing Departments. Size of areas in ranges as follows:
Direct - 7
Indirect - 40
- Accountable for adhering to operating budget of $10 - 25 million through management of daily operations and projects.
- Work involves a variety of internal and external contacts. Contacts include Rate, Regulatory, ESO, Legal, C&MS departments, and external vendors. Also included could be union officials, and all levels of Exelon management and employees.
- Operational decisions made daily with wide latitude. Advise/counsel Director on strategic direction as needed.
- Provide performance feedback and provide input into final performance ratings and resulting dollar adjustments.
