Responsible for interaction and communication with retail suppliers operating in the electric retail choice marketplace. Manages daily operations associated with BGE's supplier coordination tariff, customer billing and EDI (electronic data interchange) functions.  Management responsibility for the design, testing, implementation and documentation of the rules, policies, business processes and systems required to successfully implement new State legislative programs.  Manage Analysts in Unit, perform supplier account management and business processes as required and support other organizations with design and implementation of strategic initiatives.

Note: Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24x7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


  • Management responsibility for account management activities for Retail Electric Suppliers (RESs).  Responsible for ensuring inquiries from retail market participants are addressed and resolved including questions and issues associated with retail customer metering, billing, enrollments, tariffs.  Facilitate proactive communications associated with current and future retail choice market structures.  (30%)
  • Responds to inquiries by Suppliers concerning retail choice issues including, customer switching, metering, billing, etc. Manages issues to resolution. Responsible for the daily functions, business processes and systems required to produce and deliver historical retail customer usage data resulting from market participant data requests and billing market participants for those services.  Responsible for dispute resolution, marketplace tracking, and communications. (20%)
  • Promotes safety, diversity and engages employees in an environment that fosters open communication and high performance. Fosters development and coaching for employees and provides timely feedback regarding group and individual performance. (20%)
  • Represents Exelon/BGE in external relations with retail electric suppliers, state regulators, consumer advocates.  Interfaces with several Exelon internal departments such as Legal, Regulatory, Customer and Marketing Services, Exelon Generation, and Transmission Operations. (20%)
  • Directs the management of retail choice agreements between BGE and Electric Choice Suppliers. Communicate requirements and implement business processes required for new RESs to successfully register and participate in retail choice programs.  Provide direct supervision and support for Unit Analysts. (10%)


  • The Electric Retail Choice program currently serves over 315,000 customers in BGE’s service territory.  Retail market design issues affect the entire BGE business model. Daily processes affect retail customer billing, short-and long-term load and financial forecasts and after-the-fact reporting and settlement throughout BGE.  BGE Electric Supplier Services continually works with senior members of Strategy & Regulatory Affairs, Regulatory & External Affairs, Customer Operations, and Energy Acquisition in performing daily responsibilities and supporting strategic initiatives. Interfaces with external groups such as Public Service Commission staff, and Office of Consumer Advocate staff. Actively promotes customer satisfaction and employee engagement activities. Provide performance feedback to employees and provide input to Sr Mgr for final performance ratings and resulting AIP adjustments.
  • Reports: Direct 6 exempt employees and 1 Staff Aug Contractor



  • Bachelors Degree in business or related field and a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience, or, in lieu of a Bachelors degree, a minimum of 12-14 years of relevant experience.
  • Significant knowledge of processes and functions of the wholesale energy market.
  • Significant experience in wholesale energy markets, including transmission and retail electric and gas operations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and strategic issues associated with electric utility industry restructuring and specifically BGE retail choice functions and processes.
  • Strong preference for technical background, financial aptitude, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills.
  • Specialized skills in negotiating, leadership, planning and decision making. Proven skills in managing change, influencing regulatory rulemakings and implementing new technologies.
  • Demonstrated competency in Exelon leadership fundamentals: safety, passion, stretch, focused actionable planning, ownership& accountability, leadership engagement, communication, personnel development, employee involvement, diversity, standardization, continuous improvement and celebration.


  • An advanced degree is preferred.
