PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
A qualified attorney, preferably with regulatory experience, to provide compliance and counseling advice and support to the Company.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provides counsel concerning advisory, compliance, and other regulatory matters not involving contested litigation on a variety of topics including but not limited to property acquisition, negotiations and agreements with customers, commercial contracts, affiliate contracts, financings, marketing and communications materials, franchise agreements, inter-utility and affiliate relationships, tariff drafting and interpretation, and ethics matters. Acts as a state legislative specialist on behalf of the Company. Has strong comprehension of the electric utility business.
Under minimal supervision, plans, conducts and supervises complex legal assignments, requiring an ability to evaluate matters that may have a major bearing on the Company’s business; evaluates legal and business risks and regulatory viability of strategic initiatives and advises clients accordingly
Interprets and applies internal policies consistent with the law
Manages annual and quarterly internal and external reporting obligations.
Provides lead direction and/or project leadership direction to less experienced attorneys and support staff
