PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

    An entry-level to mid-level attorney responsible for providing full legal service to clients under the supervision of a managing or supervising attorney.  Carries out legal assignments, including research and preparation of briefs, memoranda, and compliance filings.  Performs non-routine legal assignments and assists with litigation of regulatory and administrative matters.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs broad and moderately complex legal assignments that are varied. 75%

    • Assists more experienced attorneys in representing Exelon in regulatory proceedings and/or relevant litigation

    • Advises clients with respect to all legal matters

  • Responsible for developing an understanding of each assigned client’s business and business philosophy 10%

  • Prepare, and revise as necessary, budgets and early matter assessments for all matters involving outside counsel. 10%

  • Projects / duties as assigned 5%


JOB SCOPE

  • Supports more experienced attorneys in ongoing relationships and matters with Business Units and outside counsel.
  • Able to think strategically and work with Business Units to achieve Company objectives and manage risk.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and (1) be licensed to practice law in Illinois (2) or sitting for the Illinois bar in July 2022; continued employment is contingent on passage of Illinois bar in 2022
  • 4 or less years of professional experience in a specialized area of law
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills 
  • Requires excellent legal research, analytical abilities and on ongoing knowledge of federal and/or state law as required by the position
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly – both orally and in writing; to read and analyze legal materials and other data; to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines 


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  •    Experience working within a utility or regulatory agency.
