PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Operations Computer Specialist is responsible for data integrity, data modeling, data display and data integration of the various BGE Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and applications such as: Distribution SCADA (DSCADA)Distribution Automation System (DAS), Network Management System (NMS)/Outage Management System (OMS), PI - Historian (PI), Geographic Information System (GIS), , Fusion-White Space Management (WSM) Tool, and the Inter Communications Control Protocol (ICCP) data link.

- The SCADA systems are used by BGE’s System Operators to monitor and control the BGE electrical system (Transmission, Sub-transmission and Distribution) in real time.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

To accurately maintain BGE’s computer control systems, the Operations Computer Specialist shall:

-Support capital project installations/routine maintenance by updating SCADA, ICCP, and other various databases

-Utilize various application’s user interface editors to build substation/circuit displays and associated linkages.

-Conduct testing between system operator consoles and field equipment (Point-To-Point testing)-Perform GIS extracts, OMS model builds, and white space management to update OMS model.

-Create and maintain calculations resulting in data used by both Transmission and Distribution

-Integrate new DA equipment into Distribution auto-restoration program and auto restoration schemes (ARS).

-Review and report out on DA performance and investigate associated ARS failures.

-Lead and coordinate the functional testing of emergency applications (e.g. voltage reduction, load shed, etc.)

-Investigate SCADA hardware/software problems with internal Exelon IT or external vendors.

-Support DSO during storms and system emergencies

-Work closely with Asset Record Management (ARM), Distribution Automation and Technology (DAT), Substation Operations and Maintenance (SOM), Relay and Control, Distribution Automation and Technology (DAVQ), Real Time SCADA IT, and Operations Control Center (OCC).

-
- Required to work Storm and other System Emergencies.

Required to work overtime as needed.

- Subject to being on-call for system emergencies.

JOB SCOPE

Qualifications

Minimum:


- Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex work assignments and communicate effectively in a team environment and with external customers.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Three years experience in database design/maintenance and/or network modeling or associated technical equivalent (e. g. AA certificate in computer science, programming or relevant field) or 6 years experience with Bulk Power or Distribution, metering and control systems or equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience.

Preferred:

-Demonstrated knowledge of BGE electric system, maps and records.

-Demonstrated knowledge of point to point (P2P)/head-end control system testing.

-Demonstrated knowledge of Unix, SQL, Oracle Forms, and/or other database structures.

-Demonstrated knowledge of BGE auto restoration scheme.

-Demonstrated knowledge of OSI Monarch SCADA system
