Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Senior (“Sr”) Manager of Real Time Technical Delivery and Standards is responsible for the overall technical architecture of the Real Time portfolio (Infrastructure, Software, Integration Design and Development, Security, Data Design, and Cloud Strategy). 

Within the Real Time portfolio are numerous planned and emergent projects which require extensive technical delivery and architecture solution engagement.  The Sr. Manager for Technical Delivery and Standards will be responsible for the technical strategy, design, and oversight of Real Time portfolio architecture and solutioning. 

The role will engage with all Real Time portfolio project and support teams to establish technical direction.  Own the delivery of the end-to-end Real Time portfolio architecture strategy and develop project-specific solution and technical architectures in conjunction with each team.  

Assist with the governance and oversight of each Real Time project to ensure that technical outcomes and benefits of the business cases are achieved in accordance to the developed architectural designs and overall Real Time strategy.  

Work with the IT organization to identify and implement IT best practices and development of Real Time standards.  Establish and maintain partnerships with strategic vendor partners to ensure delivery of their respective scopes of work in support of agreed upon requirements.  Collaborate with IT peers from inter-dependent projects and IT Support teams to deliver required technical integration with other systems.

Candidate should have a strong understanding of SCADA systems, Outage Management Systems, Real Time system-related integrations, network security configurations, industrial control system best practices, and related modern design patterns.

Lead the development of the overarching Real Time architectural strategy and provide oversight and governance to related architectural standards, patterns, and technologies with IT Project and Support teams.  Lead within Real Time project organizations to deliver required architecture designs and capabilities as defined by established functional and non-functional project requirements. Plan and manage resources (internal and contract), finances, scope and services within the technical workstreams of Real Time projects to deliver the defined business outcomes. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 

Serve as the Real Time Technical Delivery and Standards leader 35%
- Develop and maintain relationships with IT & business partners; ensure that Real Time portfolio, strategies, standards, processes, and requirements are identified and well understood; and participate on committees and forums that drive the technology strategy for the Real Time portfolio products and platforms.
- Partner with IT Solution Architects, SME & business to create Real Time portfolio strategies.
 

Provide oversight and thought leadership over planned activities that deliver Real Time portfolio project architecture solutions.  Utilize established project controls to ensure delivery meets scope, schedule, and budget expectations.  Monitor and manage applicable project Issues, Risks, and Change Requests to mitigate potential impacts on delivery.  Ensure proper QA/QC plans are developed and adhered to ensure delivered solutions meet defined quality standards and business partner expectations.  Collaborate with 3rd-party program providers (SI, Product Vendor Partners, Testing, Change management, System Commissioning) and ensure high quality of delivery.   40%

Actively lead and manage key technical components of project business cases and the portfolio strategy development. 15%
- Lead the development of the solution related artifacts (documents, diagrams, etc.) as required.  Track alignment of developed solution to established business requirements throughout each stage of the development lifecycle. 

Effectively establish and maintain relationships with strategic vendor partners.  Work closely with Real Time projects and vendors to define appropriate statements of work, RFI/RFP activities, and ensure delivered work products and services are aligned to these agreements.  Collaborate with partner vendors to identify and pursue value-add and strategic opportunities.    10%

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and typically 10 or more years of experience in leading and managing multiple solutions teams at the manager level or higher, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Demonstrated ability to design technical architectures that are aligned to business and technical requirements, and Enterprise standards
- Typically 3 to 5 years of IT experience in the areas of: SCADA control systems, outage management systems, ICS network concepts, Infrastructure, Real time system integrations, Real time system security approaches, and overall technical system design
- Excellent consultative skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation. Advanced interpersonal skills, communications skills, and presentation skills.  Demonstrated ability to present and discuss complex technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding and approval
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a large, diverse team and deliver in a cross-function environment.
- Able to understand and apply new concepts or topics quickly to daily job.
- Ability to look at the big picture, recommend innovative approaches, and embrace and tackle new ideas.

POSITION SCOPE

- Primary focus is daily collaboration and communication with an extremely broad volume of IT, BU and Strategic Partners.
-  Determine appropriate theories, standards, practices and principles that relate the technology to Exelon Real Time business.
- Leads development of project architecture design deliverables and documentations
- Contribute technological innovation to drive new business opportunities and solve complex business problems.
- Support strategic Exelon initiatives, such as Utility of the Future, toward supporting our Business Partners’ goals
