Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
The primary work locations for this role include Baltimore, MD, Oakbrook, IL and Philadelphia, PA, with a hybrid/flexible work arrangement.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
This position will be a part of a focused group contributing to the company’s Enterprise-wide technology evolution. You will be part of the team building the foundation for the continuous development and improving internal and external customers experiences. This is an individual contributor role with the opportunity to lead and mentor your peers in various project efforts and to contribute to further professional and personally development. You will be responsible for various aspects of designing, developing, deploying and maintaining applications within the project.
This role is highly focused on various customer technology platforms, with a concentration on Oracle’s Customer Care and Billing Application. You will perform and/or manage activities relating to planning, gathering common business requirements, designing, building, and maintaining high quality solutions, products and processes. Additional work around coding practices and methodologies, technical architecture and hardware systems sizing, and analysis will be required to support the team.
As you’ll be joining a fast-moving team we know there will be days when we as a team may be required to work extended hours and/or shift work to support our effort and meet assignment deliverables, but we assure you, we make time to celebrate our victories, incorporate fun days to volunteer, team building, etc. along with additional corporate perks! PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Leverage Oracle Utilities Application Framework SDK to design, develop, extend and support Oracle CC&B Application extensions and batch programs.
- Undertakes complex assignments and/or projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge and develops practical, workable, and cost-effective solutions to business problems to satisfy client requirements.
- Frequently aids/mentors less experienced personnel.
- Design and build CC&B modules and customizations in JAVA.
- Maintain and enhance engagement with business, IT partners and other stakeholders.
- Consults and/or actively participates in the management and optimization of computing resources which could involve multiple functional areas.
- Establish positive team environment by proactively assisting and training less experienced personnel. Provide performance and development feedback as required.
- Effectively researches, analyzes, and identifies current and emerging technology trends/products/concepts that can improve the team’s or client’s business process.
- Oracle CC&B Development using Java and associated technologies.
- Perform analysis and provide technical recommendation to IT teams and business personnel to meet business/IT needs.
- Build and maintain knowledge of new technologies or technology opportunities and assist in analysis of their use for business and/or IT clients.
- Find areas for improvement in process and quality.
- Follow outlined coding guidelines pertaining to style, functionality, readability and ease of maintainability.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and typically 5 to 8 years of experience in maintaining CIS applications or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Appropriate technical skills to analyze data and evaluate solutions. Ability to design build and test applications.
- Strong knowledge of business practices and processes in Customer Information Systems.
- Strong problem solving and analysis ability
- Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work with remote project teams
Preferred:
- Experience working within an Agile methodology.
- Help other team members learn appropriate theories, practices and principles that relate to their skill set portfolio
- Strong knowledge of JAVA and use in collaborative environment leveraging version control and coding standards
- Familiarity with Oracle databases, SQL Developer, FTP, HP's PPM/EDMs/PCRs, HP's ALM
- Strong problem solving and analysis ability
- Utilize understanding of customer's business needs to determine requirements
- Utility Industry experience is a plus
- Applies technical expertise to plan, design, build or support required products and processes. These include:
- SQL and SQL Developer
- Cobol (at least reading it)
- XPath
- CC&B Configuration Tools (i.e. scripting in Xpath)
- HTML / XML
- XAI/IWS Web Services
- JSP pages
- GIT
- Familiarity with CC&B Framework
- Hibernate
- Eclipse
- Help other team members learn appropriate theories, practices and principles that relate to their skill set portfolio
- As assigned, manage working relationship with outsourcing partners
