The Project Engineer (PE) will be responsible for managing distribution jobs under $500k. Strong project management, communication, coordination and field experience are all necessary skills and experiences that will help an ideal candidate excel in this PE role. Additional tasks include job checking, SPOC for special processes (i.e. permitting or avian issues) and mentoring new designers. The PE will assist the division manager with keeping project schedules and work progressing according to program needs that regional engineering supports. As the grid adapts to meet the needs of a clean energy future the Project Engineer must also have a desire to support design for new technology application such as fiber, voltage optimization and distribution automation.
RIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Develops studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, budgets, associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunication facilities/systems. Provides analytical support and consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers as a result of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles or facilities. Reviews financial data for budget and actual costs of projects. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Leads and performs engineering assignments associated with critical engineering projects or a number of small projects with many complex features require extensive company experience that may include leading employees or contractors in the commissioning of electrical systems and equipment to be placed On System. (45%)
- Performs assignments in areas where engineering precedents are incomplete, lacking or require broad experience. (25%)
- Evaluates, develops and implements projects that have significant financial and operational impact. (10%)
- May serve as an expert for organization in a specific area or responsibility that may include the delivery of classroom instruction/training and/or OJT/OJE. (5%)
- Performs assignments while acting independently, and may lead multi-discipline teams. (5%)
- Provides recommendations and implements action plans to improve performance and cost effectiveness. (5%)
- Participates in technical and industry societies and committees to enhance knowledge of new technologies or issues in areas of company interest. (5%)

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in a technical field (non-engineer) (1) or equivalent relevant education / experience (See Section Below) (2) AND 6 or more years of field experience in engineering, construction, or applicable utility experience. (1) Examples of technical fields (non-engineer) include Engineering Technology, Electronics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, etc. (2) Relevant education / experience is knowledge and skills that may be acquired through job experiences or education programs related to those acquired through a formal technical degree program. Examples include experience gained in a military role applicable to electric power distribution, completion of a journey-level electrician program (e.g., overhead / underground electrician, electrical mechanic), or completion of a company-sponsored technical education program (e.g., Elements of Electrical Engineering (E3) series). The equivalent relevant education / experience is in addition to the position's minimum experience requirements.
- Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches.
- Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles and practices.
- Knowledge of complex field test equipment.
- Broad knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments for a specific discipline installations, or service.
