Job Summary:

The Senior Transmission Specialist is responsible for running production cost and other power flow models to help the commercial team identify transmission system capabilities/limitations and determine risks and opportunities in different FTR markets.  The Senior Transmission Specialist is responsible for owning and executing the power basis management process in one of Constellations key regions. The individual works with business experts and traders within the commercial team to implement power basis trading strategies in order to maximize the value of Constellation’s portfolio of generation and contractual obligations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

1. Use production cost and power flow models to develop strategies that maximize the value of Constellation’s energy portfolio through the power basis management process.
2. Evaluate transactional opportunities in accordance with the above strategies.
3. Perform analysis and provide advice on the impact of transmission developments and any relevant outages. Work with commercial teams to develop stress case scenarios on production cost models to identify risks associated with Constellation’s portfolio. 
4. Explain congestion-related events on transmission grid and forecast transmission congestion in advance, including price impacts both day ahead and real-time, to impact trading decisions.
5. Monitors new marketplace structures and regulations for potential transmission impacts on transactional opportunities.
6. Provide short-term transmission views and produce daily reports summarizing views.
7. Provide rates of transmission service and cost based ancillary service for transaction pricing and budgeting purposes.
8. Initiates process improvement recommendations.

Qualifications

Person Specifications:

Knowledge:

1. Electrical engineering degree related to power system engineering, business administration or equivalent experience.
2. Three to five years’ experience in engineering or power transmission.
3. Expertise in using production cost models and transmission power flow softwares.
4. Strong computer and analytical skills.
5. Knowledge of North American regional market infrastructure.

2. Demonstrates the ability to translate complex study results into usable business data.
3. Self-motivated to achieve success in a rapidly evolving environment.
4. Ability to remain calm during stressful situations.

Education/Experience:

1. Electrical Engineering degree(B.S/M.S), MBA or advanced degree
2. Experience with ISO operations (Preferred but not required)
