A qualified attorney, preferably with regulatory experience, to handle complex legal matters on behalf of the Company.


  • Performs as a specialist in regulatory litigation and administrative law, including ratemaking, provides technical and expert legal services to ComEd and has strong comprehension of the electric utility business.
    Under minimal supervision, plans, conducts and supervises complex legal assignments, necessitating ability to evaluate matters which may have a major bearing on the conduct of the Company's business; evaluates both legal and business risks and advises clients accordingly. Interprets and applies internal policies consistent with the law.
    Represents ComEd before the Illinois Commerce Commission and other state agencies in administrative proceedings and/or relevant litigation. (75%)
  • Prepares, and manages budgets for all matters involving outside counsel and manage outside counsel engagement. (10%)
  • Provides lead direction and/or project leadership direction to less experienced attorneys and support staff. (10%)
  • Projects / duties as assigned. (5%)


  • Supports more senior attorneys in the ongoing management of relationships and matters on behalf of ComEd, including with internal clients, outside counsel, external stakeholders and state regulators.
  • Demonstrates superior legal judgment in the business context.
  • Demonstrates innovation; generates new ideas and devises original and successful solutions, programs or actions.



  • An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in IL.
  • At least 5 to 8 years of professional experience. 
  • Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and procedures relevant to the operation and success of a utility regulatory litigation practice.
  • Requires excellent legal research, analytical abilities and on ongoing knowledge of federal or state law, especially regulatory, administrative and litigation law.
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly - both orally and in writing; to read and analyze legal materials and other data; to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines.


  • Experience appearing before state or federal regulators.
  • Experience managing rate cases.
    - Knowledge of various utility ratemaking structures.
    - Experience providing direct counsel to clients.
    - Preferable 5 to 10 years of relevant professional experience
