PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Reports to and supports the Director of Insurance in managing corporate policy for insurance and risk retention programs and, as required, represents corporate interests and influences the direction of mutual insurers, government agencies and the industry. Assists in managing corporate risk related to loss of assets or claims against the corporation through the administration of third-party and self-insurance programs. Also, provides risk management consulting expertise to the company and continuously focuses on cost effective avenues to decrease insurance and risk management related expenses.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Coordinate with senior management, legal and finance leads to address and advise on risk management issues. (20%)
  • Identify, evaluate, and eliminate or reduce risks related to asset or earnings losses. (10%)
  • Coordinate corporate insurance programs across internal business units and corporate center (D&O insurance) and represent corporate interests with insurers and the industry. (10%)
  • Negotiate insurance coverages working with brokers, industry mutuals and commercial insurers, review insurance contracts, administer insurance policies, and ensure compliance governmental regulations. (30%)
  • Serve on industry committees and task forces and take a leadership role to influence the direction of mutual insurers, the industry and governmental organizations. (10%)
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and issues; keep senior management apprised of trends and opportunities (10%)
  • Serve as mentor for department staff (10%)


JOB SCOPE

  • Reports to Director of Insurance
  • Assist Director in managing insurance function and overseeing and mentoring department staff .
  • Manage specific lines of insurance coverage.
  • Efficiently insure Exelon's generation, transmission, and distribution assets as well as Exleon's corporate exposures.
  • Maintain expertise and close relationships with utility-owned mutual insurers.
  • Develop relationships with insurance brokers and underwriters.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related degree.
  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years financial/insurance experience with demonstrated leadership in an Accounting, Risk Management, and/or Treasury function.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles and insurance markets with knowledge of federal laws, and risk financing approaches for mergers/acquisitions/new ventures.
  • Ability to analyze insurance decisions and impacts on Exelon and its subsidiaries
