PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Manages IT audits to determine propriety and efficiency of control structure and operating processes, including recommendation for improvement in processes and controls. Manages special IT reviews at the request of management.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Oversee risk assessments for critical business processes (10%)
  • Assume overall responsibility for the planning and development of IT audit scope and fieldwork, including integrated audits (application reviews and system development/pre-implementation reviews) (10%)
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality and content of IT audit work performed by audit team. Day-to-day responsibility of IT audits, supervise, coach, and develop staff (30%)
  • Assist Director in establishing and monitoring compliance with Company, Audit Services, and professional standards for work performance and work ethics. Assist in developing and enhancing audit processes and tools (10%)
  • Prepare formal written reports, as requested, expressing opinions on the adequacy and effectiveness of the controls. Deliver oral or written presentations to Senior and line management (25%)
  • Serve as liaison/business partner to customers to understand their business and needs, and building and maintaining business relationships. Oversee this interface between audit personnel and customer (10%)
  • Manage outsourcing arrangements (5%)

JOB SCOPE
  • Level and depth of supervisory duties � Manage audit staff on multiple projects
  • Budget accountability, impact on asset management, and organization revenue - Some
  • Total number of employees managed (direct and indirect) 3-8
  • Level of independence, decision-making authority or strategic planning accountability � Support to Director and VP
  • Internal and external contact relationships � Serve as liaison with Business Leaders, Internal Auditors and Suppliers (audit hosts)
  • Number of direct reports (Span of Control) 3-8

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum: LEVEL OF EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Accounting, Engineering, Business or equivalent degree
  • Ten or more years experience in an IT Auditing position or related field
  • Experience in managing an internal audit department � IT audit function
  • Professional accreditation, e.g. CIA, CPA, CISA, CISSP (Certified Information Security Professional) TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
  • Business Process Risk Assessment
  • Best Practices, Analysis and Improvement
  • Leadership responsibility including supervising associates, coaching, budgeting and recruitment
  • Good organizational and analytical skills and ability to prioritize multiple activities and requirements
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems (OS/390, UNIX, Windows) and computing environments (mainframe, client server, internet, intranet) and applications (PeopleSoft)
  • Understanding of IT general controls including security, program change management, system development life cycle, computer operations, disaster recovery, business continuity
  • PC Skills (experience in word processing, spreadsheet applications, and flow charting)
  • Able to obtain, analyze and appraise data
  • Energy Industry Experience
  • Proficient with generally accepted accounting principles and auditing requirements
