Responsible for performing engineering and technical tasks, under general supervision, in support of nuclear plant operations.


  • Perform engineering and technical tasks as assigned by supervision applying general engineering principles. (45%)
  • Assure all engineering products prepared are in accordance with applicable safety analyses, industry codes, engineering specifications and all regulatory requirements. (40%)
  • Participate in the development and implementation of effective processes and techniques at appropriate levels of detail and in compliance with established policies and procedures. (10%)
  • Recommend format and methodology improvements to standard processes and procedures. (5%)


  • Performs intermediate and routine engineering technical tasks requiring broad engineering/technical experience.
  • Works independently with broad supervisory review.
  • Must be able to collect data from the field and incorporate the information and data into applicable databases and documents.
  • Has some latitude to make technical decisions within accountabilities.
  • Department Specific Roles/Responsibilities:
  • Design Engineering: Defend the plant design and licensing basis. Preparation and approval of design outputs and plant changes in accordance with approved processes and design requirements. Support installation and testing of plant systems and components and facility changes. Ensure the plant's physical and functional characteristics are accurately reflected in the plant documents. Perform engineering analysis to support plant changes.


  • Protect work week schedule by supporting resolution of emergent engineering work
  • Engineering point of contact for execution week coordination of online work week schedule and resolution of online engineering concerns.
  • Technical support for Maintenance Fix It Now (FIN) Team.
  • Technical support for resolving operating challenges.
  • Development of emergent Commercial Change Packages and Design Equivalent Change Packages in support of scheduled work activities and Operations issues from the Daily Plant Status Report, or other emergent work source. This includes Engineering Evaluations, Commercial Change Packages, Design Equivalent Change Packages, and Temporary Modifications.
  • Planning Support – Responding to emergent questions, assistance for unique field activities, etc.
  • Emergent complex troubleshooting support and systematic cause analysis (e.g. FMA, KT, support/refute, etc.). SMEs from other engineering groups may be required to assist.
  • Support NRC Regulatory Inspections


  • Piping Stress Analysis
  • Temporary Leak Repair Evaluations
  • Freeze Seal Evaluations
  • ASME Repair/Replacement Evaluations in support of ASME Section XI Inservice Inspection Program
  • Boric acid evaluations in support of Boric Acid Corrosion Control Program
  • Minimum wall thickness evaluations
  • Seismic qualification of equipment
  • Environmental Qualification of equipment
  • Barrier analysis/impairments/flooding
  • Mechanical modifications in support of plant priorities

  • B.S. in Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years nuclear or related engineering experience

  • Engineer in training certification
  • Good grasp of techniques and a good understanding of the fundamental functions performed by the group
