OVERVIEW

Support the Energy Efficiency Research and Development (R&D) team in day-to-day operations and the successful execution of a portfolio of innovation initiatives, including pilots, research projects, and partnerships. Assist in developing project scopes of work, performance metrics, portfolio integration plans, and evaluating proposals in support of key strategic objectives. Perform various assignments including the preparation of financial and operational reports, data analysis, and/or performance measurement. Support team members in the advancement of key strategic objectives and perform research, outreach, and/or project management tasks as needed. Coordinate quality assurance and/or change management activities with internal and external personnel. Support continual process improvements in the administration of a complex innovation effort. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support the development and management of R&D initiatives, including pilots, research projects, and partnerships aimed at advancing new energy savings opportunities for customers and the strategic goals of the Customer Solutions organization. Assist in developing scopes of work, performance metrics, portfolio integration plans, and evaluating proposals in support of key strategic objectives. (30%)
  • Support team members in the advancement of key strategic objectives and perform research and outreach on innovation opportunities across the industry by interfacing with a range of stakeholders including utility program administrators, new technology manufacturers, industry groups, contractors, researchers, etc. (30%)
  • Drive efforts related to tech transfer, portfolio integration and market adoption. These efforts require multidisciplinary approaches and working across a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external to transform markets and create real savings impacts. Create and maintain market adoption plans, manage an array of tactics such as contractor training, marketing and outreach, enhanced rebates, etc. (10%)
  • Provide comprehensive, accurate and compelling progress reporting on innovation projects at specified intervals, including performance measurement, and support the clear communication of successes and challenges to project stakeholders. (10%)
  • Support team financial reporting and management including budget development, accruals, invoicing, change orders, and other related tasks as needed. (10%)
  • Serve as single point of contact for the R&D team on marketing and evaluation needs. Work closely with various teams within Customer Solutions alongside the R&D implementation contractor and project partners to facilitate project or program-specific tasks. (10%)

 

JOB SCOPE

  • This is an individual contributor position that works under general supervision and frequently performs non-routine work. This position is expected to resolve most questions and problems through interaction with internal and/or external stakeholders, directors, managers, and staff across the organization, and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels. On occasion, the position may mentor less experienced colleagues.

  • Financial Scope:
  • Direct impact on budget is moderate  This position has a direct impact on the Company's performance regarding several key indicators  operational costs, System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI), Customer Average Interruption Duration Index (CAIDI) and Customer Satisfaction  by managing scope, budget and schedule to within approved parameters, and providing structured and detailed reports to the appropriate Management team. Supports the development of key projects/programs/initiatives to ensure complete and successful implementation. Tracks key milestones. Cost of failure would have a moderate impact on Exelon reliability and financial goals.
  • This position is also key to maintaining the company's image and good standing with customers, regulators, and shareholders in regards to developing, coordinating, and implementing projects/programs/initiatives that have a direct link to either customer experience, reliability, or the bottom line results of the organization.
  • Contacts:
  • This position requires interfacing across Exelon Corporation with various levels of personnel in Customer Operations, IT, Regional Operations, Distribution Operations, Transmission Operations, Corporate Security, Communications, Regulatory, and Legal. The ability to build relationships across the organization is important.
  • Will regularly support cross-functional and cross company teams responsible for the integration of best practices through the organization. Supports the establishment of business plans and objectives for multiple areas / departments. Prepares performance indicators and other reports to monitor results.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a business or S.T.E.M. field with a minimum of 2 5 years related business experience OR in lieu of bachelor's degree, High School diploma and 6  9 years related business experience.
  • General understanding of applicable standards, methods, processes and practices, business fundamentals, and performance metrics in the specific functional area supported by this position (e.g., electric or gas operations, customer service, transmission and substation, distribution system operations, regulatory and external affairs).
  • Strong proficiency in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Project, Visio, Excel, & PowerPoint), and relevant specialized business applications (e.g., project portfolio management, requirements/test management, CIS/CRM, customer self-service, telephony, EPS, EAM, work management, & outage management) to support business needs.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with general problem solving and analytical/financial skills and a willingness to accept increased responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish trust, meet deadlines, communicate effectively, and accept accountability of multiple tasks.
  • Customer driven with demonstrated good written and oral communication skills.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA or Master's degree in a business or S.T.E.M. field.
  • General knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of project management.
  • Certification as : Certified Associate in Project Mgmt (CAPM) OR Project Management Professional (PMP) OR Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Demonstrated general analytical skills for project evaluation including analysis of projects with economic, financial, risk and decision analysis. Skilled in business case development.
