Job Description



Responsible for financial analysis and support of trading operations


  • Responsible for calculating and tracking the West Trading financial performance metrics (calculating monthly accrual & LE, tracking trader P&L, etc).
  • Develops new processes and tools to enhance P&L reporting and portfolio analysis. 
  • Uses existing analytical tools to develop DA price forecasts for California
  • Develops new tools to assist traders’ views and strategies for portfolio management
  • Supports resource adequacy filings and procurement (monthly and annually)
  • Supports RPS position management and procurement
  • Supports California Carbon Allowances risk metrics
  • Assist with gathering and compiling data for multiple regulatory filings as requested including long term IRP and quarterly PCIA reports




  • Undergraduate degree in economics, finance, engineering, math, computer science, or equivalent education
  • Three to five years of experience in commodities trading industry.
  • Good knowledge of supply and demand dynamics in commodity markets
  • Demonstrates cross-functional and cross-business unit influence
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Possesses strong accountability
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Pays attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge and proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to analyze contracts and legislation/policy


  • Experience with VBA, R, Python or another programming language.
  • Some proficiency with Shooju and Endur
