Primary Duties and Responsibilities:  (*essential job functions)

  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and company policies.
  • Inspect work activities to ensure compliance with company standards for cost control, quality, safety, and equipment reliability.
  • Ensures preventive and predictive maintenance program is performed as scheduled.  
  • Ensures compliance with company needs for material ordering and delivery.
  • Manages department to facilitate the use of human and other resources to achieve maximum productivity and profitability. 
  • Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate improvements and enhance working relationships. 
  • Provides technical guidance and direction to lower level personnel and provide on-the-job training where required.
  • Maintain favorable working relationship with subordinates in order to support positive employee morale, productivity and continued improvement.
  • Reviews ongoing performance results and identifies needs of employees.  Implements coaching or mentoring partnerships as appropriate. 
  • Communicates clearly and directly with employees concerning performance expectations, productivity, and accountability. 
  • Responsible for suggesting methods to improve operations, processes, efficiency and service for the facility and to the customers. 
  • Develops employees for future advancement when possible. 

Qualifications

Job Specifications:

Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of the mechanical trades and manpower needs associated with District Heating and Cooling.
  • Good understanding of related equipment and processes.
  • Expertise in maintenance management.
  • Professional attitude and presentation while representing the company.

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, and clients/customers. 
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and the ability to write reports and business correspondence. 
  • Ability to work effectively with subordinates and proven supervisory skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to define problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to handle all required paperwork and documentation in a timely manner.

 

Education/Experience:

  • 10 or more years of related experience or training; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the measurement of performance goals and standards and establishment of targets for improvements in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee relations.
