Performs the EED electric and gas load forecasting processes for ComEd and PECO. Acts as a principal contributor to the forecasting of EED energy sales and peak demand. Develops and uses econometric/statistical models for forecasting and weather adjusting output, sales and peak demand, to be used as the basis of EED's monthly and long-term sales and peak forecasts. Occasionally prepares reports describing economic conditions within the U.S. and the three service territories, and conducts ad-hoc analysis of various customer classes in order to better understand customer usage patterns.

  • Performs the load/sales forecasting process for utilities, which includes: Projecting of capacity, distribution and energy sales using econometric modeling and customer analyses. Oversee the development/refinement of econometric models that are used not only for forecasting purposes, but also provide historical weather-adjustments. Monitor retail-switching activity within the service territory and other states for forecasting purposes. Analyses of monthly results using the Data Warehouse (or similar databases) to further understand changes in customer usage; plus monthly variance analysis of forecasted and actual results to budget, forecast and prior year results. Applying and leading load research analysis. (70%)
  • Assist in the preparation of required regulatory load and sales reporting. (5%)
  • Assist in regulatory issues or special projects as needed. (5%)
  • Prepare reports describing economic conditions within the U.S. and the three service territories. (5%)
  • Complete ad-hoc analyses of customer classes to obtain better understanding of customer usage patterns. (15%)

  • Responsibility for performing load forecasting.
  • Key input to financial, regulatory and operating plans for EED.
  • Works under minimal supervision


  • 4year degree in economics, mathematics, statistical analysis, finance or other appropriate discipline; coupled with 5 to 8 years of economic, financial or customer sales business experience.
  • Load Forecasting experience or experience in developing and applying econometric forecasting techniques in a practical business environment to support decision making.
  • Proven ability to gather, organize, analyze, interpret and communicate data in an understandable and meaningful manner to improve understanding to facilitate business strategy, decision making and performance improvements.

  • MBA
  • Solid understanding of energy industry issues and market dynamics including rate and legislative/regulatory matters, fundamental energy supply and demand drivers, energy delivery operating drivers, industry technology trends, etc.
