PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Responsible for the administration and maintenance of the Exelon standardized Radiation Protection/Health Physics program to ensure implementation of radiological control procedures for personal radiation safety, compliance with federal and state regulatory agencies, and ensuring proper response of facility personnel in the event of an emergency situation. Is responsible for the training and knowledge transfer of Health Physics skills to technician and professional staff.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Participate as key manager in Business Planning, Budget, and Business Performance review regarding site and Exelon Nuclear. Fulfill managerial responsibilities regarding assigned staff (e. g. , Employment, Development, Compensation, Performance Evaluation, etc. ). Ensure consistent and effective work force practices through assigned supervisors/functions.
- Responsible for the design and implementation of policies and procedures relating to the applied Radiation Protection programs. This includes ensuring that the requirements of 10CFR20, supporting NRC Regulatory Guides, INPO, and other regulatory documents are met.
- Accountable for the management and control of radiation exposure, source term reduction efforts, Radiation Protection and Radiation Worker training programs, personnel and equipment/area contaminations, and radioactive waste generation and shipments.
- Responsible to support the implementation and maintenance of the Generating Station Emergency Plan including training and qualifications of personnel.
- Informs and consults with Station Management on significant problems and advises Management relative to radiological hazards and pertinent regulatory requirements.
- Participates in audits and assessments of the Radiation Protection program and develops and implements corrective actions for RP-related findings. Performs critical observations and provides critical feedback to all site personnel to insure continued improvement in Radiological work practices.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum:
- Must have a bachelors degree or equivalent in a science or engineering subject, including formal training in Radiation Protection years and a minimum of five years of professional experience in applied radiation protection. At least 3 years of this professional experience should be in a supervisory role in applied radiation protection work in a nuclear facility dealing with radiological problems similar to those encountered in a nuclear power station, preferably in an active nuclear power station (Reg. Guide 1. 8)
OR
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in applied radiation protection. At least 3 years of this professional experience should be in a supervisory role in applied radiation protection work in a nuclear facility dealing with radiological problems similar to those encountered in a nuclear power station, preferably in an active nuclear power station (Reg. Guide 1. 8)
- Successfully completed NRRPT or CHP certifications
- Must have proven leadership ability and management skills
- Must have demonstrated written and oral communicative skills
- Successful RHR Evaluation
- Must have demonstrated ability to work closely with all levels of plant and company personnel
Preferred:
- Should have leadership skills managing multiple program areas of Health Physics

- Active participant on the Radiation Protection Managers Peer Group Team.
- Maintain a functional relationship with the Chemistry, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Maintenance Managers.
- Participant on PORC, TRC, BRC, ESC, PAR, CRC, STC, and Scope Control Committees.
