PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Constellation is seeking a candidate for a Senior Originator position who will be working in the Wholesale Origination Team.

This role will be responsible for identifying, negotiating and executing structured wholesale power transactions, to include both load sales and generation offtake transactions, as well as leading deal teams for the transactions. The role is also responsible for management of existing customer relations and identification of and development of new customer relationships. Key activities include building and maintaining relationships with wholesale customers including renewable developers, identifying attractive deal opportunities consistent with Constellation objectives and gross margin targets, preparing and negotiating term sheets, leading interactions across the deal team which includes groups such as Structuring, Trading, Credit, Risk and Legal, and preparing and leading materials and presentations for final deal approvals.  . The successful candidates will have experience in originating transactions from a variety of technology types including wind, solar and natural gas transactions, including understanding due diligence on key project .  This candidate will leverage knowledge of the  PJM, ERCOT, New York, and/or MISO markets, have the ability for overnight travel, and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.  The Constellation Origination team is based in Baltimore at the Constellation headquarters. Constellation has moved to a hybrid flexible work model.

                                                                                                                                                      

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop transactional opportunities in accordance with the company's strategies and manage relationships with existing and potential customers and counterparties
  • Negotiate all financial and operational terms of structured transactions
  • Support transactions with internal functional groups
  • Develop and lead internal transaction approval presentations.

Qualifications

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum:

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Minimum 8+ years of professional experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in energy industry
  • Demonstrates knowledge of significant aspects of the wholesale power business especially in deal origination
  • Wholesale customer-facing transactional experience
  • Strong analytical capabilities in transaction negotiation and financial analysis of structures wholesale power transactions
  • Knowledge of North American regional power markets
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Products particularly financial modeling in Excel , CRM software and analytic tools
  • Ability for overnight travel

Preferred:

  • MBA
  • Experience with renewable energy
