PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION The Market Risk team supports Exelon's trading and marketing business by assessing and tracking key risks in a large, integrated energy commodity portfolio. This position will:
•    Assess market risks of the Hedge book by identifying, analyzing and quantifying risk levels and changes to ensure that the business operates within predefined limits
•    Monitor compliance with risk limits, identify and communicate potential risk concentrations, limit exceedances and large exposures to Commercial and Risk management
•    Contribute to the development of the Risk policies, limits, and risk metrics relevant to the regions and main exposures in the portfolio: stresses, scenario analysis, heat maps, etc.
•    Develop deep understanding of generation assets, customer load/deals and key structured transactions in the respective regions and their impact on the overall portfolio as well as types of strategies used by commercial in managing market risk exposure
•    Build effective relationship with Wholesale Trading while maintaining an un-biased perspective
1.    Provide daily update of risks and positions for specified region(s) including significant changes
2.    Calculate risk metrics, streamline and automate calculations wherever possible. Maintain high standards of quality
3.    Use quantitative methods to develop new frameworks and perform ad-hoc analyses for risk limits and guidelines as required by business activity, market events, or changes in risk appetite
4.    Establish an active dialogue with portfolio managers to understand and quantify emerging market risks and hedge strategies
5.    Information gathering, research, best-practices benchmarking



  • Bachelor’s degree with related major and excellent academic background.
  • At least 5 years related experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization
  • Analytical skills to develop sound recommendations
  • Ability to use computer programs/applications to develop spreadsheets, reports, and presentation materials.
  • Basic knowledge of the energy
  • Strong analytical problem solving and data analysis skills, with attention to detail
  • Strong organization and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and adapt to the changing needs of the business
  • Experienced in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with ability to lead, work independently and/or participate as a team member on multi-part projects with little oversight

  • Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline (such as accounting, mathematics, sciences, economics, finance, or engineering)
  • Experience with VBA a plus
  • Knowledge of trading systems, processes and practices
  • Knowledge of energy derivatives and markets
