PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Develop and implement strategic programs as a part of BGE’s Corporate Community Impact team. Develop partnerships with civic nonprofits and organizations in central Maryland. Principal responsibility for managing the company’s Renewed Neighborhood initiative. 

Note: Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24x7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Serve as program lead on BGE’s Renewed Neighborhood initiative.
  • Manage the collection and tracking of data to assess impact of programs across Corporate Community Impact’s portfolio.
  • (Externally) Represent the company and take a leadership role in a broad range of company community partnerships.
  • (Internally) work with Communications team to promote community initiatives and build a positive image for the company.
  • Maintain and process financial transactions to support our grantees.

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing or related discipline and 5-8 years related experience in private sector or nonprofit community affairs, public relations or related area, OR in lieu of Bachelor’s degree, 9-12 years of relevant experience.

Written and verbal communications, strategic planning, project development and management, relationship development, event marketing, computer proficiency.

  • Established network of community relationships and familiarity with community issues and leaders in Central Maryland
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus, establish trust and work effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across organizational boundaries.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and also to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with PC applications to include Word, Excel, Power Point and desktop publishing.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends.
  • Demonstrate strong working knowledge of community, political and socioeconomic environment in which the company operates.
