Responsible to assist with PV responsibilities as well as other daily activities.

  • Daily, weekly and monthly price verification responsibilities: review and escalate PV exceptions to the Manager, facilitate broker quote coverage for options, perform analytical procedures on curves
  • Summarize weekly industry/market events and their impact on businesses for management
  • Analyze weekly changes in commodity prices and risk metrics: unit VaR
  • Keep abreast of market trends, news and industry events
  • Review trading performance and risk metrics, calculate return-on-var for the trading group and communicate to the stakeholders
  • On a daily basis review the reasonableness of trades by comparing daily activity to existing portfolio in areas with dual responsibility between prop trading and hedge

  • Reports to the Manager/Director, Market Risk
  • Ensures accuracy of pricing curves, used to price deals, value portfolios and calculate risk metrics
  • Prepares summaries of market events, risk metrics and assesses impact on business, used by management


  • Bachelor’s degree with related major and excellent academic background.
  • At least 5 years related experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization
  • Analytical skills to develop sound recommendations
  • Ability to use computer programs/applications to develop spreadsheets, reports, and presentation materials.
  • Basic knowledge of the energy
  • Strong analytical problem solving and data analysis skills, with attention to detail
  • Strong organization and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and adapt to the changing needs of the business
  • Experienced in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with ability to lead, work independently and/or participate as a team member on multi-part projects with little oversight

  • Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline (such as accounting, mathematics, sciences, economics, finance, or engineering)
  • Experience with VBA a plus
  • Knowledge of trading systems, processes and practices
  • Knowledge of energy derivatives and markets
