The Sr Quantitative Analyst for the Utility of the Future will design and develop proprietary simulation models to support asset management and oversight, data integrity management, risk management, and overall strategic planning for innovative utility platform initiatives. As a member of the Advanced Analytics team, the successful candidate will collaborate directly with business analysts, utility engineers, technical specialists, and other data analytics personnel. He or she will apply quantitative techniques to measure and analyze model risks and form opinions on the strengths and limitations of the respective models. A strong foundation in programing, statistical methods, and data analysis is essential along with a solid understanding of data visualization tools.


  • Leverage in-depth technical knowledge of predictive analytics, statistics, modelling techniques and simulation approaches to develop valuation, risk management, and pricing models.
  • Conduct research and produce proof-of-concept demonstration systems to test new quantitative modeling approaches and solutions to complex problems
  • Translate quantitative and business concepts into efficient, robust, supportable system design and architecture.
  • Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to less experienced technical analysts on the team and in the organization
  • Partner with IT to develop complex data structures and a business intelligence platform for reporting end user data mining
  • Partner with stakeholder analytics teams across ComEd and the Enterprise to expand the use and gather feedback on the models and systems


  • Reports to the Asset Manager & Reliability
  • Works under minimal supervision, relying on knowledge, skills and judgment acquired through education and relevant experience to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals
  • Works closely with members of the Asset Management & Reliability Unit in mapping the strategy and identifying the use cases for the T&S systems
  • Performs data quality analysis and improvement on certain datasets
  • Experience using Microsoft Azure's suite of products (blob storage, instances, virtual machines, and so on) to store data, run queries, and develop low- to medium- complex models 
  • Uses Power BI to communicate analytical results, automate data intake, and update dashboards as needed
  • Uses the full Microsoft Office Suite to share, communicate, and visualize data including Power BI, Forms, Power Automate, and Power Apps
  • Performs the typical ETL tasks for all use cases such as:
    1. Extracting Data from single or multiple Data Sources
    2. Transforming Data as per business logic. Transformation is in itself a two-step process- data cleansing and data manipulation.
    3. Loading transformed data into the target data source or data warehouse.
  • Builds required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using Python, Spark, and/or SQL technologies
  • Works with data scientists, quantitative engineers, and other quantitative analysts throughout the Company as necessary to build the analytics infrastructure needed to successfully complete use cases from start to finish
  • Identifies, designs and implements internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
  • Will not only be technically/domain proficient but also needs to understand and be part of the business development and support activities



  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant experience
  • Thorough understanding of applied and financial mathematics concepts and techniques (including advanced statistical techniques)
  • Ability to use a broad range of development languages (e.g. C/C++, Python, Perl, Matlab, etc.), and databases query languages
  • Ability to quickly master industry fundamental concepts including energy commodity markets, portfolio valuation, and system dynamics
  • Should be self-driven and able to work in (and lead) team sizes ranging from individual contribution to several members.

  • Masters or PhD in quantitative field
  • Energy industry experience
  • Prior experience in an operation research role
  • In-depth experience in one or more programing language
  • Background in applied system dynamics theory
  • Ideal candidate with have experience performing advanced quantitative analysis and developing and/or validating risk models to support senior managers in running their quantitative strategies.
