ROLE OVERVIEW:

 

Leads, coaches, and develops teams of professional and craft employees or contractors in the performance of commissioning, testing, planning, designing, operation, and maintenance of Exelon’s electric generation, transmission, distribution, data networking, telecommunication, P&C communication, facilities/systems.  The testing and commissioning senior engineer applies engineering principles to develop commissioning documents such as livening procedures, installation and testing strategies, and equipment outage strategies for the safe and efficient installation of new and replacement primary equipment, SCADA systems, Protective relaying and control schemes, with minimal impact to system reliability.  This can include providing calculations, evaluations, plans, criteria, specifications, integrated systems analysis, field design documents, performance assessments, and labor estimates.  Provides consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers as a result of applying engineering analysis to the study of company or customer - owned systems, processes. equipment or facilities. Performs specialized engineering tasks that may involve witnessing of Factory Acceptance Tests. troubleshooting systems, commissioning, and maintaining system equipment to industry standards and regulatory compliance. Provides guidance to other work groups and may oversee commissioning engineers and craft contractors. Trains, coaches, mentors and evaulates others through a formal qualification program.

 

Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer
    • Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems
    • Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory
    • Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices
  • Eight or more years of professional engineering experience
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in unique areas of engineering expertise
  • Detailed knowledge of applicable standards, codes methods, and practices unique to areas of expertise
  • Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Minimum of three related career experiences (i.e., changes in technical job responsibilities, which may or may not include a change in department) OR
  • Lead Member of a recognized industry committee OR
  • Professional Engineer’s License, advanced technical degree, MBA or Project Management Certification


Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree or Graduate level work in Engineering, Business Administration or Project Management Certification 
  • Licensed Professional Engineer  
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all management levels 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills 
  • A working knowledge of analysis software packages such as CYMDIST, PSS\E, Python, PSCAD, MATLAB, etc. 
  • Ability to analyze industry wide trends and implement enhancements
