PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Manage gas infrastructure projects and programs consisting of cross-functional teams involving multiple disciplines and multiple operating areas including contract resources. Responsible for managing the scope, schedule, budget, and safety performance of multiple projects and programs. Lead project teams through business case / capital approval process, development and execution of project plans and project closeout. These projects and programs have budgets that will typically range from $250K to $10 million each with annual expenditures up to $50 million for all projects managed.   Also, may manage business initiative projects with direct accountability for project execution while leading a team to accomplish objectives within a given time frame and with limited resources. 

Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible and accountable for overall project performance for  gas infrastructure projects  and organizational initiatives.
  • Ensures project costs, schedule and scope are managed, including the development of recovery plans, to stay within approved limits.
  • Interface with external and internal stakeholders to coordinate project requirements.
  • Primary communicator with the sponsor and key stakeholders on project issues, including executive level and interdepartmental presentations
  • Obtain zoning variations, permits and real state right to support project execution.
  • Ensure an effective working relationship between the project team, management, and interfacing organizations.
  • Coach and lead team members to ensure completion of assigned tasks.
  • Ensure project team members understand their respective responsibilities.


POSITION SCOPE

The Project Manager is an individual contributor accountable for project budgets, safety,  team performance and developing strategic plans to implement projects for various organizations. Responsibilities also include managing scope, budget and schedule within approved parameters and providing structured and detailed reports to the appropriate Management team. Tasks may include but are not limited to: ensuring the completion of technical project scopes, budgetary approvals, project scheduling, requirements engineering, design and engineering tasks, vegetation management reviews, project reporting, project financial analysis, major equipment procurement, environmental analysis, obtaining real estate and relationship management with external customers, vendors, townships and regulatory agencies, project quality assurance, and change management. Interacts routinely with key internal and external stakeholders including senior management,  utility customers, and governmental and regulatory officials.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field and 5 - 8 years relevant project management or related experience, OR High School Diploma and 9 – 12 years of relevant project management or related experience
  • Project Management Professiona (PMP) certification or acheive PMP within two years of job entry
  • Demonstrated and documented success at managing projects
  • Ability to work independently and as a team leader including the ability to handle conflicting priorities in a multi task environment
  • Demonstrated strong independent judgment skills
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and time management skills
  • Valid driver’s license and access to an automobile


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering  or Business Administration
  • Experience or knowledge of gas utility design/planning/construction
  • Professioal Engineer License
