Develop and enhance relationships with governmental officials to influence policy and decisions to better support mutual interests. Lead efforts to resolve emergent issues in an effective and timely manner to result in positive impact to customer satisfaction. Function as primary contact for elected official, government leaders and other key stakeholders to resolve operational issue, optimize the corporate image, communicate corporate messages and form strategic partnerships. Serve as a conduit of strategic information and advise internal leaders to help resolve matters strategically and efficiently.

Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


1. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local elected officials and government department heads as well as strategic key organizations. Represent the company at council and government meetings as necessary.

2. Provide input to corporate leadership team and other business units to shape the Company's strategic direction. Develop and execute effective outreach and communications plans pertaining to high-impact projects, including reliability and infrastructure projects. Build key external stakeholder support. Negotiate resolution to conflicts while involving internal key partners. Develop and maintain a network of support resources with internal business units to resolve escalations in an effective and timely manner.

3. Identify, manage, facilitate opportunities to resolve issues and innovate to improve internal processes to positively impact customer satisfaction and efficiency.

4. Actively participate in matters that effect communities which may focus on infrastructure projects, economic development, partnership programs to demonstrate company commitment to the community and gain insight on customer opportunities as they relate o the company.

5. Partner with Large Customer Services to ensure quality service, billing and collections and revenue requirements are executed as it relates local government accounts.

This position is responsible for influencing local governments to support the company's interest to better serve our customers. Through lobbying interactions and the development of strong supportive relationships with government officials and strategic stakeholders, this position will identify and leverage partnership opportunities, resolve conflicts and demonstrate a positive image for the company. Also requires detailed knowledge of corporate policies, laws/legislation, government and lobbying policies and political climate that can affect business strategy. Requires high degree of confidentiality. Issues addressed by the position can have significant impact on the company's financial goals, customer satisfaction, efficient operations and corporate image.



•       Bachelor’s Degree in  Business, Economics, Public/Governmental relations or Engineering. Political Science or Communications preferred.
•       8 – 10 years relevant experience, with at least five years experience in customer service related areas
•       Well-developed interpersonal skills, including negotiation and facilitative skills
•       Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
•       Knowledge of relevant computer systems and ability to display applicable level of computer literacy
•       Self-motivated with ability to demonstrate independent decision-making
