Exelon seeks to hire an Associate General Counsel for Litigation (AGC), based in Washington DC or Baltimore. The AGC will lead a team of litigation attorneys and legal professionals in the Washington DC/Baltimore/Delaware region; support Exelon’s business units in all areas of litigation, including oversight of high impact litigation and internal investigations; and lead or assist in proactively managing and mitigating litigation risks across the company. We’re looking for an experienced litigator with expertise in commercial and/or government-facing matters, who is ready to lead a diverse team of professionals in a high-paced, high-impact business environment


The Associate General Counsel - Litigation (AGC) will lead a team of litigation attorneys and legal professionals in the Washington DC/Baltimore/Delaware region; support business units across the company in all areas of litigation, including commercial, tort, and government-facing matters; and lead or assist in proactively managing and mitigating litigation risks across the company.  The AGC will oversee high impact litigation and internal investigations, including, where appropriate, directly representing the company in judicial, regulatory, and arbitral forums.  The AGC will report to the company’s Vice President and Deputy General Counsel – Litigation.

1. Represents the company in judicial proceedings, arbitrations, mediations, and before government agencies; and manages outside counsel with respect to all aspects of litigation;         
2. Provides counsel and guidance to business unit clients and officers and executives of the company regarding litigation, negotiations, investigations, and related matters;     
3. Effectively supervises and assists in the career development of a team of attorneys and legal professionals;         
4. Prepares, and revises as necessary, budgets and early matter assessments for all matters involving outside counsel;        
5. Performs significant projects and other duties as assigned by the General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel.        

-  Provides legal services as a practicing counsel, and directly manages relationships and matters with Business Units and outside counsel.  
-  Able to think strategically and work with Business Units to achieve Company objectives and manage litigation risks.
-  Provides inclusive leadership to a diverse team of attorneys and legal professionals.  


An LLB or JD from an accredited law school. 
Admitted to practice law in Maryland or admitted to practice in Washington DC with a requirement of admission to the Maryland bar within the first 12 months of employment.        
At least 12 years of litigation experience, including significant experience leading complex civil litigation.
Exceptional oral and written communication and advocacy skills and superior legal judgment in the business context.    
Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and the ability to independently and efficiently manage a portfolio of litigation matters, including under challenging deadlines.
Ability to lead a diverse team of attorneys and legal professionals.    


Significant experience in successfully leading a diverse team of attorneys and legal professionals.
Experience in managing outside counsel, including strategic and tactical guidance, staffing, case management, budgeting, and alignment with broader corporate legal strategy.
Experience litigating on behalf of or against the government preferred, but not required.
Experience with Energy or Utility industries.
