Responsibilities:

 

Circuit Analysis:

Perform circuit analysis of under-performing circuits (including but not limited to: 1% circuits, Customer Target, and CEMI (CEMI 7 Repeat, CEMI 4 Threepeat, high CEMI)) to identify engineering solutions and create challenge documents. While performing the field review, the consultant shall note any corrective maintenance issues identified. Upon the identification of performance related issues, consultant shall create service request, work request, and/or challenge documentation as required for prescribed work.

 

Other possible work:

  • Perform engineering investigations on 34kV OA/RA and Lockouts if C&M does not find the cause and update the 34kV log with findings
  • Perform walkdowns on Frequent Sustained Outages and ICC Complaints or other reliability issues
  • Assist C&M with trouble review
  • Review outage log for previous day’s activity
        1. Customer Target movement
        2. CEMI movement
        3. High customer outages or long duration
  • Create Engineering Investigation Reports for Executive notifications
  • Issue Work Requests for CMs found on walkdowns
  • Issue Service Requests for Customer Target, CEMI, and 1% work for engineering
  • Update Bi-weekly Reliability Weekly report
  • Provide guidance and support to C&M on reliability issues
  • Investigate Low Voltage and Momentary interruption complaints

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer
    • Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems
    • Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory
    • Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices
  • Eight or more years of professional engineering experience
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in unique areas of engineering expertise
  • Detailed knowledge of applicable standards, codes methods, and practices unique to areas of expertise
  • Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Minimum of three related career experiences (i.e., changes in technical job responsibilities, which may or may not include a change in department) OR
  • Lead Member of a recognized industry committee OR
  • Professional Engineer’s License, advanced technical degree, MBA or Project Management Certification

 

 

Preferred Specifications

  1. Previous ComEd project experience in Distribution Engineering or Operations is highly desired
  2. Eight or more years of professional engineering experience
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications
  4. Detailed knowledge of applicable ComEd standards, codes, methods, and practices unique to areas of expertise
  5. Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues.
  6. Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all management levels.
  7. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  8. Ability to analyze industry wide trends and implement enhancements.
  9. A working knowledge of analysis software packages such as Asset Suite 8, TED/CEGIS, CYMDIST, AutoCAD, etc.
  10. Thorough knowledge and experience in unique areas of engineering expertise.
