Job duties will primarily be credit work, (cuts & reconnects) but may be assigned residential meter exchanges when credit work is not available.


Is required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies (electric outages, etc.).





  • Experience demonstrating skill reading and interpreting maps sufficient to travel to various company locations and customer homes.
  • Experience demonstrating skill using hand tools (for example, hammers, pliers, wrenches, hacksaws, pipe cutters, pipe dies, shovels).
  • Experience demonstrating skill reading, writing and communicating with others effectively.
  • Experience demonstrating skill dealing with customers.
  • Basic computer literacy (e.g., experience using various input devices such as a mouse and keyboard to accomplish work.)
  • Ability and willingness to perform physically challenging both indoor and outdoor tasks for extended periods of time (for example, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders and scaffolding, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pulling/pushing, standing, walking, and squatting).
  • Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments in diverse conditions including outdoors in all weather conditions, in inner cities, on or around energized electrical equipment, in noisy and dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by federal, state, local and company regulations (for example, uniform, safety glasses, hard hat).
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, shifts, holiday, and weekends as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to various company locations and customer homes.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in the Meterperson progression and take and pass step progression tests.
  • Must successfully pass CAST qualification test.
  • Must successfully pass a Criminal History Background Check.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must successfully pass a drug test.



  • Experience demonstrating skill reading and interpreting basic one-line diagrams and basic schematics of electrical systems.
  • Experience demonstrating skill installing, maintaining, replacing, and removing metering distribution systems (single-phase).
  • Experience demonstrating skill reading electric metering/recording devices.
  • Experience demonstrating skill testing and troubleshooting various types of electrical and/or telecommunication equipment.
  • Experience demonstrating skill monitoring and recording data using hand held devices (e.g., laptops).
  • Experience demonstrating skill interacting in-person with customers to collect money (past due funds), disconnect/reconnect service, resolve customer complaints, and/or answer questions regarding billing.
  • Experience demonstrating skill using order tracking and fulfillment software such as Advantex and/or GIS to perform work functions (for example, to receive and transmit service order completion documentation, find customer locations).
