PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Under close supervision regularly and customarily perform a variety of manual or physical work.
  • Use hand and power tools for excavating & back filling
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Handles material for installaton
  • May be required to assist in operation of heavy eqipment 
  • Perform other related or less skilled work as required or directed

 

Qualifications

Qualifcations 

  • High school diploma or GED OR equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Ability and willingness to perform physically challenging tasks for extended periods of time (for example, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders and scaffolding, excavating trenches, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pulling/pushing, standing, walking, and squatting).
  • Ability and willingness to work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability and willingness to work non-standard and extended hours, rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays and during system emergencies, as required, consistent with the Labor Agreement.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain Compliance with DOT Gas Pipeline guidelines.
  • Experience demonstrating skill Flagging traffic and the ability to be certified as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to be reliable, dependable, trustworthy and maintain the confidentiality of company information
  • Ability and willingness to wear uniform and/or Flame Retardant clothing as required.
  • Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, local and Pepco Holdings regulations.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to various company locations and customer homes.
  • Ability and willingness to perform a second role in accordance with Pepco Holdings' Emergency Preparedness Guidelines for all employees.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must successfully pass a medical screening to include a drug test.
  • Must successfully pass a Criminal History Background Check which consists of a criminal records check for felony convictions.

Preferred:

  • Experience demonstrating skill using hand and power tools (for example, shovel, electric jackhammer, drill, chainsaw).
  • Experience demonstrating skill performing clean up duties in various work areas and replenishing materials and supplies.
  • Experience demonstrating skill painting.
  • Experience demonstrating skill making deliveries and pickups including loading and unloading materials.
  • Experience demonstrating skill performing Electrical work.
