PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support the Advanced Distribution Management System Program for the Exelon Utilities IT Real Time organization
Interact with Exelon Utility Business personnel, Operational Technology engineers, IT Real Time support, OT support and other IT personnel
- Assist both IT and Business partners with planning the introduction of new technologies and/or identifying the most appropriate technology choices to accomplish business goals
- Lead solution design and development activities (security, integration, deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, etc.) for Exelon Utilities Real Time strategic solutions to deliver the Advanced Distribution Management System
- Collaborate with peer organizations and vendors to design various interfaces with related systems
Assist with planning and management of project scope, schedule, and budget to provide a quality solution on time and on budget.
- This includes establishing project milestones, working through issues, forecasting resource needs, and monitoring and controlling project scope and schedule.
- Support the management of project financials including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Proactively identify and manage project risks and issues
- Assist with effective stakeholder relationships by providing consistent communication and transparency through effective status reporting
- Review and identify the impact of system changes, builds, and installations to ensure that all service level agreements and operational compliance requirements are met
- Maintain technical knowledge and business acumen
Position Scope
- Lead IT staff and resources in accordance with IT Business Plan. Plan and manage scope, schedule, and budget for defined deliverables in accordance with IT project management standards.
- Develop project requirements, budgets and schedules, facilitate requirements meeting. Establish milestones, anticipate issues and monitor adherence to project scope, requirements, design and schedules.
- Lead IT projects and associated System Integrators to deliver projects of medium to high complexity. Ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget and that all deliverables are of the highest quality.
- Maintain current business knowledge/acumen, including application of technology solutions to deliver business results.
- Maintain current knowledge of Exelon architecture standards and practices.
- Participate in the annual budgeting process, assist in updating long-range and budget planning models.
Qualifications
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree (ex: Computer Science or related discipline) and 5 - 8 years of relevant experience (programming technologies) or minimum 9-12 years of relevant combination of education and work experience
Experience in large scale project delivery and system development lifecycles
Strong knowledge of business practices and processes
Strong organizational skills with the ability to see the big picture while prioritizing the work of multiple project teams
Demonstrated ability to lead small to medium teams in delivering software solutions
Demonstrated strong teamwork skills with self-motivation to achieve success in a rapidly evolving environment.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to discuss a project in the context of what is most important to the intended audience
Strong judgment and excellent analytical ability
Ability to influence, enable, and challenge stakeholders towards commitment and execution of project deliverables within a matrix organization
Ability to navigate through complex problem solving
Ability to learn in a dynamic and fast paced environment
Travel is expected to the various Exelon Utility geographies (e.g. Chicago, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Baltimore)
Preferred:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience in leading software development efforts, designing conceptual data models & system architecture, and user interfaces, is a major plus
Experience with multi-vendor, multi-partner solution implementations
Experience with platform and business process consolidation projects
Project management experience and skills
Experience with Utility real-time applications (e.g. SCADA, Outage Management, DMS)
Experience with various aspects of application consolidation/rationalization projects
Experience with leading cross Business Unit technology projects which includes both Business and Vendor resources
Experience in managing and reporting project budget, accruals, and resource forecasting
Experience with Agile software development and test-driven development
Experience in automated testing including unit testing, UI testing and functional testing
Experience building highly scalable applications
Self-motivated and able to prioritize and manage workload and meet critical project milestones and deadlines
Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and collaboration skills
