Under direct supervision, performs chemical, radioactive and environmental analyses to ensure compliance with regulations, plant procedures and safety requirements.

  1. Performs chemical analyses (evaluates, and makes recommendations) to ensure compliance with the plant water chemistry program.
  2. Performs chemical analyses for and operates the wastewater treatment system and performs environmental effluent monitoring to ensure compliance with the National Pollution Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) Permit.
  3. Operates, calibrates and maintains equipment used to perform chemical and radiochemical analyses.
  4. Maintains materials and supplies required for operation of the chemistry and radiochemistry laboratories.
  5. Performs and evaluates radiochemical analyses of plant systems and effluents and the samples required to support the radiation safety program.
  6. Assists in the training of chemistry personnel in chemical and radiochemical analyses.
  7. Performs special analytical services in support of operations, maintenance, safety, and other groups.
  8. Ensures compliance with cleanliness requirements.
  9. Conducts and evaluates special studies in areas of corrosion and corrosion control.
  10. Qualified as an ERO responder
  11. Duties may require shift work


Knowledge: Knowledge of principles of chemistry, radiation safety, laboratory techniques and apparatus and plant systems. Comprehension level sufficient for analyzing operating procedures involving technical language, anticipating secondary effects of primary actions and calculating mathematical results.

Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of four years of experience in the fields of water treatment, radio- chemical analysis or chemical analysis or the equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience, including one year of nuclear power plant experience.

  1. Must pass the EEI Technicians Test
  2. Meet the requirements of Company and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) psychological, drug, alcohol, and medical testing policies and/or regulations.
  3. Satisfactorily complete NGET Training.
  4. Satisfactorily complete radiation safety training (may include respirator qualifications), if required for job performance.
  5. Must be able to meet and maintain the requirements of unescorted access at a nuclear power plant.
