PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
This job is responsible for managing BGE’s Gas Engineering & Standards unit, ensuring timely updates of gas engineering construction and design standards, supporting gas engineering projects, interfacing with the MD PSC and other regulatory agencies, and providing overall gas engineering oversight and support to BGE. This position includes managing and insuring regulatory compliance and adherence to accepted engineering standards and design practices for gas system improvements, system reliability, and system capacity projects across the gas distribution system while managing and controlling the scope of work, and maintaining focus on accuracy. This position may be required to work extended hours including 24x7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
POSITION SCOPE
This job has regular interaction with senior management, managers, government officials, and line organizational staff to support distribution engineering and reliability practices. Manages staff reporting directly or indirectly to this position. Accountable for all Gas Divisional engineering construction and design standards, as well as assigned budget, staffing, development, compensation, and related human resource needs of assigned employees. Ensures all plans are coordinated with all pertinent areas across the company. Determines the effect of various actions and policies on the reliability, economics and operability of the distribution systems. Coordinates, monitors, and evaluates contractors as required to complete engineering projects.
