PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
 
The purpose of Architecture Management is to define the different technology building blocks that make up the enterprise and their inter-relationships, as well as the principles guiding their design and evolution over time. These principles drive Service Portfolio Management roadmaps, to ensure that the right mix of supported technology services are offered to achieve business value, as defined by the business strategy.
 
Within the architecture community, the IT Architect is responsible for performing activities supporting the efficient operation of the enterprise architecture management forums and their respective processes under the guidance of Principals and direct management. The IT Architect partners with both the enterprise IT Architecture and federated architecture community to deliver a consistent approach to capturing technology steering board output, new standards and roadmap maintenance, reference material catalogs and visualization of architecture metrics and associated dashboards. Ability to adapt for special projects or initiatives when required.
 
Within the Work & Asset Management organization, the IT Architect is integral to the sustainment of the Business Capability Model and strategy.  The IT Architect position serves a critical role in assessing functional requirements against organizational needs. 
 
 
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Work within a team environment to provide documentation supporting the enterprise IT architecture team and its federated community in the form of job aids, approved products updates, technology steering board deliverables, process document maintenance, and PowerBI dashboards.

- Assist the IT Architecture and Engineering community with governance logistics for the introduction of new technologies with input to the most appropriate solutions. Assist in the development of white papers and presentation material as needed under the guidance of technology domain Principal Architects

- Build and maintain knowledge of new technologies or technology opportunities and assist in development of analysis of their use for improving the IT architecture program

- Participate in peer groups around specific technology areas

- Maintain engagement with federated architecture community

- Provide support for the reporting and maintenance of the Business Capability Model and association to business applications
 

JOB SCOPE

- Maintains knowledge of technology and application usage across Exelon

- Promote knowledge via seminars, presentations and publications across Exelon

- Participates in technological innovation to drive new business opportunities and solve business problems

- Works under normal supervision

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Information Sciences or related discipline) and 2 - 5 years of relevant experience (IT solutions architecture, enterprise architecture, and systems & application design) or 6 – 9 years relevant experience

- Technical knowledge in at least one area, such as application development, enterprise applications or IT systems engineering.

- Effective communications skills – Ability to communicate highly technical information in non-technical terminology (written and verbal)

- Basic understanding of change management principles associated with new technology implementations

- Basic understanding of project management principles
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Basic understanding of electric/gas utility business 

- Basic understanding of Business Capabilities and Business Architecture principles

- Experience with Microsoft 365 and the Microsoft Power Platform
