Primary Duties and Responsibilities: (*essential iob functions)

Aggressively manages and inspects the day-to-day activities of multiple electric contractor crews at various job sites or projects. Facilitates the installation of electric infrastructure and ensures that all company standards, company specifications and governmental regulations are met. Manages work to ensure that all performance objectives for cycle time and cost are on target. Oversees and directs contractors performing electric cut-ins. Performs M-Scoping in substations for underground utilities for Company and contractor personnel. Prior to commencement of construction, coordinates with customer(s) at the job-site to determine specific customer requirements, construction sequencing and provides site readiness verification. Maintains frequent and regular contact with contractor supervision regarding job performance and documents results appropriately. Reviews and approves all documents submitted by the contractor verifying the accuracy and completeness of the documentation. Seeks answers from engineering on various job specifications and requirements. Knowledgeable of distribution, substation and transmission contracts. Approves contractors' time sheets, material and equipment. Ensures that the terms and conditions of contract and technical specifications are met. Verifies key unit quantities. Makes the necessary field decisions regarding job changes and communicates them as necessary; documents all job changes to ensure compliance and updates the appropriate information technology systems. Is LOTO qualified. Assists Construction Planner in identifying zone of protection requirements for work. Completes a weekly work log of all work and change orders. Coordinates permit and work-with requirements with 3rd party utilities and permit agencies. Reviews and approves all documents submitted by the contractor verifying the accuracy and completeness of the documentation. Regularly communicates job status to the appropriate parties to facilitate scheduling commitments. May work and communicate with representatives of other departments or manufacturers in the repair or replacement of defective materials or equipment Maintains customer coordination during construction phase and conducts job walk-down with cust01ner and contractor at job completion. Reports to job-site or remote location. May be required to work during emergencies, and storm situations. Submits work requests electronically when issues are found in substations. Closes out work orders electronically. Completes and submits electronic timesheet.

Job Specifications

 

Knowledge

Thorough knowledge of company work, environmental, and safety practices, including a working knowledge of electric substation and transmission operations.

 

In-depth knowledge of materials, BGE construction standards, regulations (OSHA), and safety requirements for electric distribution, substation construction. Thorough knowledge of PC.

 

Skills/Abilities

Ability to interpret construction and vendor drawings, feeder prints and job jacket contents.

 

Ability to effectively plan, schedule, manage and coordinate daily work activities.

 

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to anticipate and resolve problems promptly.

 

Must possess valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving standards. Ability to attain valid CDL license.

 

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

 

Demonstrated reliability, responsibility and accountability.

 

Demonstrate ability to provide leadership.

 

Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, schedule, manage and coordinate daily work activities. Demonstrated organizational skills to effectively manage multiple priorities.

Ability to write, speak, read, comprehend and communicate clearly and accurately in the English language.

 

Must be willing and able to work overtime on a regular basis and must be available for callout overtime, if and when required, consistent with the Labor Agreement.

 

Education / Experience

Five or more years of substation/transmission construction//maintenance experience or the equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience.
