The Commercial Platform Architect will leverage extensive knowledge of Constellation’s commercial systems, related business processes and the organization to ensure the reliable operation and development of the commercial platform for the business.  At the heart of this platform is Constellation’s Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) system, a system which is broadly integrated with other commercial applications to provide a complete front office-to-back office solution for the business.
The Architect will collaborate with multiple business and technical stakeholders on critical issues affecting (1) reliable operations, (2) ongoing enhancements & upgrades, and (3) long term evolution of the commercial platform.   The work, particularly in the second and third areas, would include leading a team of stakeholders to outline multiple design and implementation alternatives, assessing such alternatives based upon identified constraints / objectives (e.g., cost, schedule, budget, return on investment, business requirements, usability, reliability, maintainability or efficiency), and recommending the most robust, economical and suitable option for further development. The Architect may follow through, playing a leadership role on key projects targeted to deliver the suitable solution for the business.
The Architect will be responsible for the flow of data across the entire platform, ensuring adherence to the established data governance framework and design standards.  To fulfill this responsibility, the Architect will oversee integration efforts with both upstream and downstream systems, assessing the impact of business or technical changes which could effect these interfaces, and when necessary, launching efforts to address these changes.  These efforts could include development of budgets to fund the changes.
The Architect will review development work being done by agile teams for the ETRM system and engage in the creation of technical and business standards which drive consistent development and data management over time.  The Architect will lead governance processes for data and business process design which drive business engagement, business ownership and adherence to these standards.  These processes will also identify changes which the Architect will tackle as noted above.
The Architect, given their extensive technical and business knowledge, will act as a consultant to various system support teams, helping ensure the day-to-day reliable operation of the platform.  The issues could include complex performance problems or key design questions.
The Architect is expected to remain abreast of emerging technologies which could enhance the capabilities and performance of the commercial platform.  They may also represent Constellation at key user group forums and engage with service and technology providers to meet their job requirements.
