PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Ensure reliable, least cost, gas supply to meet requirements of BGE’s natural gas customers, as well as financial performance targets for BGE earnings. Support all aspects of natural gas supply acquisition portfolio including: contract negotiation / administration / accounting, gas supply procurement, risk management, off-system sales, capacity release, and long / short term supply planning.  This includes support and optimization of upstream pipeline storage assets and pipeline transportation as well as decision on strategies for future supplies.  This individual will make decisions that affect BGE’s customers, gas costs, reliability and the financial well being of the corporation.

Note:  Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24x7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Support accounting activities for Gas Supply, including invoice processing and financial analysis. 

2. Analyze pipeline tariffs and filings with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. 

3. Track all gas supply and transportation activities in gas management systems.

4. Coordinate and plan for short and long term transportation activities including completion of the annual Capacity Plan. 

5. Provide support for natural gas scheduling activities in Gas Supply.

6. Support the filing of the Case Number 9500 Market Based Rates filing and other regulatory filings.

7. Support business planning, budgeting, variance analysis, audit compliance, and reporting requirements.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

•Bachelors Degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 5-8 years of relevant experience, OR in lieu of a Bachelors degree, 9-12 years of relevant experience.
•Ability to work independently or on a team managing projects with minimal supervision.
•PC skills:  Knowledge of spreadsheets; Excel; Word; etc.
•Excellent demonstrated skills in verbal and written communications.
•Strong organizational and analytical skills with ability to handle multiple projects.
•Knowledge of gas tariffs.
•Knowledge of pipeline and storage operations.

JOB SCOPE

The Sr Analyst is expected to support Accounting, Scheduling, Planning, Contract Administration, and pipeline transportation.  Each of the areas requires the ability to compile and analyze business data, understand operational priorities and make appropriate decisions with limited supervision.  The Sr. Analyst is expected to recognize the impact of decisions made to understand the short and long term impacts.  The Sr. Analyst represents the Company’s position when interfacing with external parties, e.g., pipelines, marketers, and regulatory agencies. A Sr. Analyst is expected to maintain an ongoing awareness of emerging interstate pipeline issues/projects on systems providing service to BGE.
