PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Sr. Financial Analyst is a key member of the team that has primary responsibility for the short- and long-term valuation of Nuclear fleet economics. The day to day responsibilities vary; many work streams involve specific initiatives around the fleet to maintain or enhance its value, including business case evaluations for capital projects using discounted cash flow analysis and assessment of potential commercial opportunities. In addition, this position develops and defends Nuclear’s offer caps for PJM’s annual capacity auctions. The work is highly analytical. Must be able to fulfill ad hoc requests from various internal and external sources to support decision-making and provide necessary insight to executives, managers, department heads and line personnel. Individual must be flexible, proactive and able to work with ambiguity. Individual must be able to commit to the time requirements of this position, which may demand extended hours as required.

 
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Leads the Nuclear Fleet Valuation process. Maintains model and conducts, organizes and presents related analysis

2. Prepare economic business cases (discounted cash flow analysis) for capital investments / projects within Nuclear Fleet

3. Develop Nuclear’s Avoidable Cost Rates for PJM capacity auctions, communicate to leadership, and interface with Market Monitor

4. Support ad hoc projects for executive leadership (Nuclear, Corporate, Regulatory), including accessing data from the financial system, quantitative analysis, and organization / presentation of results.

5. Supports development of a learning organization by developing training material and implementing training around the drivers to asset value

6. Perform periodic Ad-hoc reporting and analyses

7. Work with Manger to develop and oversee the work product of more junior financial analysts in the group and provide training and guidance as required. Perform complex special projects at the request of Management


Qualifications

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
  • 4 year degree in a business-related field with 5 to 8 years of work experience, including 2-4 years of financial valuation modeling
  • MBA/CPA preferred
  • Aptitude for problem solving and financial modeling and a high level of attention to detail
  • Effective financial analysis skills, combined with effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Exposure to accounting principles, financial metrics and financial statement relationships
  • Thorough computer-based analytical skill (e.g. Access, Excel, Power Point, database management)
  • Familiarity with Exelon financial systems preferred but not required
