The Sr. Manager, Trading  is responsible for overseeing a regional natural gas trading desk within the gas trading portfolio.  The incumbent is required to lead in the development, implementation and management of gas trading activities within a specific region.  The individual is required to manage the trading desk to meet or exceed its earnings targets within approved risk limits.  In addition, the Manager will be required to ensure appropriate financial hedging and natural gas procurement for the Wholesale, Retail and Power strategies within a particular region.  Furthermore, the leader will be required to establish and maintain relationships with key regional internal customers (Power, C&I, Mass Markets etc).while effectively developing, implementing and communicating strategies across the team and leadership.  Maintains a focus on risk management and compliance while ensuring team members develop, manage and enhance avenues to market to support regional strategy. 


Ability to optimize ExGen and Merchant Gas Portfolio.  Ability to identify and value new opportunities to deploy risk capital.  Understanding of transaction’s role in achieving performance targets.  Focus on socializing, analyzing, reviewing and prioritizing new opportunities. 

Develop, implement and manage a regional natural gas business plan that coordinates proprietary trading activities with fuel procurement and retail supply. The business plan should incorporate key market fundamentals and optimize the merchant gas strategy.

Identify, develop key reports such as compliance, credit, risk limits and variance reports  to enhance commercial decision making, internal customer needs and updates to senior management. Ability to train to review, understand and explain reports as needed

Develop and execute regional natural gas trading strategies that comply with the company’s risk control policies and are designed to meet or exceed the regional trading desk’s expected contribution to earnings/economic value creation.

Develop and execute regional strategies designed to financially hedge natural gas supply for generation assets and  retail supply needs within a particular region.

Responsible for the continued growth and development of a particular regional natural gas trading desk.

Remain abreast of regional market developments and avenues to market and communicate such developments and pricing implications.  Accountable for assigning key avenues to market to regional team members.

Ensures team understands market environments.  Holds team accountable to develop, manage, and enhance avenues to support regional strategies and cash forward markets.

Provide training and development opportunities for direct reports and team on trading processes, systems and market platforms and pricing.





7 or more years of experience in trading one or more physical  and financial commodities. 

Experience hedging standard and complex deal structures using financial and physical instruments to manage portfolio risk.

Strong understanding of regional gas logistics.  Ability to assign and train personnel.  Ability to foster strong cohesion between traders and schedulers.

Strong understanding of FPA and accounting reports and practices related to the gas  business   

Extensive knowledge of natural gas markets.

Extensive knowledge of market trends, key players in the market, and regulatory issues.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to listen to, understand and communicate Exelon strategy, line of business strategies (Wholes, Retail, Power) and Merchant gas 


Strong understanding of risk, regulatory and compliance policies.


Knowledge of Exelon’s market price marking policy and business processes. 

Knowledge of Exelon’s policies related to non-standard transaction pricing, approval, execution and deal entry.

Understand existing processes and systems that support regional business plan.
