PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Responsible for designing and deploying integrated communications plans and strategies to inform and engage the PECO workforce. Represents Vice President, Communications, in their absence. Keeps track of how the priorities of the business, stakeholder priorities, and environmental forces collide to shape employee sentiment and media consumption trends. Provides sound counsel and acts with a sense of urgency. Nurtures an extensive network that includes PECO executive team, Human Resources, ERGs, Corporate Relations, Operations, Marketing, EU, Corporate, and other functional partners to understand priorities to shape employee communications plans. Understands the changing communications landscape and is familiar with tools such as Hootsuite, SurveyMonkey, social media, WordPress, etc. and is comfortable gaining insights from data. Liaises directly with Corporate Relations to shape community advocacy messaging, volunteerism, and workforce development messages.
 
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
 
1. Develop integrated communications strategies that ensure effective delivery of PECO messages and content to back-office, virtual, and field employees.  

2. Direct interface with PECO leadership team, Human Resources, ERGs, Corporate Relations, Operations, Marketing, Corporate, and other functional partners to understand priorities to shape employee communications  

3. Supports and coordinates PECO communication plans to support strategic community advocacy, philanthropy, volunteerism, and workforce development initiatives.  

4. Positions PECO CEO and members of executive leadership as thought leaders in their respective areas  

5. Manage a variety of communication tasks to support leadership, including talking points, speeches, short presentations, and online messages.  

6. Supports EU and Corporate level projects and initiatives as needed.  

7. Manage vendor/agency relationships in the development of collateral, and the execution of projects.   
 
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

Minimum:  

• Well-rounded communications professional with a proven track record in a variety of communications disciplines.
• Proven, excellent communications skills – both written and interpersonal.
• Demonstrated strategic thinking and project management skills.
• Solid understanding of communications technology and platforms.

Preferred:

• Public Relations, Journalism, Advertising, Marketing or related field with 5-7 years’ experience in employee communications.
• Master’s degree in communications or MBA desirable.
• Energy business/industry knowledge.

Qualifications

-Position reports directly to the Vice President, Communications.
-Position activities are focused on integrated communications to inform and engage PECO employees, including back-office, virtual, and field employees across the organization.
-Involves proactive communication planning and plan execution, significant writing, editing and development of communications materials, and a high level of coordination with other communication functions within PECO and EU/Corporate Communications.
-Requires strong writing, editing and project management skills.
-High level of organization, strategic thinking, and presentation required
-Required travel.
-Operates independently with little or no supervision.
