The Enterprise Architect is a cross-project and cross-discipline role that is charged with the creation, maintenance and communication of Exelon’s current-state and future-state Architectures.  The EA provides technical expertise to support the alignment of IT solutions with architectural standards as part of the overall enterprise architecture governance process.  Works to assure that all architecture processes are followed for IT, Innovation and Business initiated projects. Supports the development of IT standards for technology solutions by participating in new technology pilots, weighing technical advantages, market availability of products, and the risks and benefits of technology to meet business needs.



To be successful in this role, the EA will drive strong cross-functional collaboration with a broad group of stakeholders.  This includes Business and IT leadership, application portfolio owners, peer infrastructure architects, solution architects, enterprise architects, relevant IT engineering and operations teams and consulting partners among many others.  This role must be proactive, open-minded, have a curious mind and a questioning attitude to drive continuous improvement.  A working knowledge of the Energy and Utilities business and related technology trends is required.  The EAGM will possess a strong ability to anticipate needs and challenges, be action-oriented and self-directed driven by the goal of successful business outcomes of Enterprise Architecture processes on behalf of the business and peer IT teams.  Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills are a must.








-Ensure that tools and the accepted best practice techniques and standards provided by Exelon are utilised.



-Actively promote the benefits of architecture, accepted best practice techniques, standards and tools to the business, IT functional areas and external suppliers where necessary.



-Participate in the development of architecture roadmaps for Exelon.



-Ensure the highest level of quality for all activities and products by providing a consultancy/advisory role to IT and business teams where appropriate.



-Engage and manage relationships with third party suppliers.



-Mentor and coach less experienced members of staff.



-Stay abreast of technology trends and advise IT and the business about potential benefits/impacts.


-Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group’s standards of ethical behaviour.



-Take a leadership role within a team environment to conduct the architecture governance program for technology projects across the Exelon organization. This includes determining alignment of projects with technical standards and other business requirements.



-Assist the IT Architecture and Engineering community in planning the introduction of new technologies and/or identifying the most appropriate technology choices to accomplish goals by utilizing Exelon’s standard governance process.



-Build and maintain knowledge of new technologies or technology opportunities and assist in development of analysis of their use for business and/or IT clients.



-Provide Architecture guidelines based on industry best practices.



-Engage early and often with Exelon Business Units Project and Product teams in order to bring awareness of utilizing the Exelon Approved Products List (APL).



-Create and run peer groups around specific technology areas.



-Lead in the creation of Enterprise Architecture artifacts including reference architectures/guides, technology standards/guidelines, implementation patterns.



-Take a leadership role in portfolio health management and architecture design reviews. 





Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Attributes



-      8-10 years in proven, diverse experience in IT, with a focus in Technical Architecture or equivalent        combination of education and work experience.   



-        Ability to look at the big picture, recommend innovative approaches and tackle new ideas.


-        Excellent mediation, collaboration, facilitation, conflict resolution and influencing skills.



-        Experience with educating and obtaining requirements and needs from key business partners.

-        Excellent written/verbal/interpersonal communication skills.



-        Proactive, self-starter and life-long learner with a questioning attitude and continuous improvement traits.



-        Effective change agent to ensure and drive positive outcomes of transformation efforts.

-        Maintain deep knowledge of technology and its application across Exelon.



-        Contribute technological innovation to drive new business opportunities and solve complex business problems.






-        Previous experience with Energy and Utilities regulatory environments and business models.


-        Experience with Enterprise Architecture framework and related Management Model governance policies.








-        Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.



-Direct experience with strategy and architecture preferred.
