To be responsible for relationships and ongoing investment research across the Private Equity landscape across each of Exelon’s investment trusts including pension, nuclear decommissioning trusts, retiree healthcare, and employee savings plan. Across the program, the majority of investments will consist of primary investments to commingled private partnerships, but also include coinvestments and may come to include investments in alternative structures over time, in part depending on the background and skill set of the Candidate. This position leads due diligence efforts for opportunities within various Private Equity strategies, serves as the primary point person for existing and prospective relationships in the segment, and conducts research efforts within the segment. The position will also support due diligence efforts in adjacent segments (real estate, real assets, private credit, and certain hedge fund strategies) as appropriate. The Candidate is accountable for executing fiduciary responsibilities for Exelon.

  1. Perform analysis on, recommendation of, and implementation of specific opportunities for investment within Private Equity across investment trusts. Form new relationships on behalf of the Exelon Investment Office at various investment industry events; keep current on investment trends, research, and the macroeconomic environment.
  2. Monitor existing invested relationships and report regularly on portfolio developments in verbal, written, and presentation form as warranted; conduct ongoing quantitative analysis of portfolio performance by creating and maintaining proprietary tools, in addition to leveraging 3rd parties.
  3. Collaborate with colleagues by providing input in team discussions on overall portfolio priorities, tactical asset allocation decisions, and other Investment Office policy-related questions; assist with diligence on an as needed basis with investments in other asset classes, with an emphasis on less liquid strategies.
  4. Prepare and present on related topics of interest to Exelon’s Corporate Investment Committee and the Exelon Board of Directors as appropriate.
  5. Support Investment Operations team to ensure investments are in compliance with legal, tax, accounting, and other reporting requirements on a timely basis.


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • MBA or relevant advanced certification (CFA or CAIA) preferred
  • 10 years’ experience investing, underwriting, or transacting experience with institutional counterparties
  • First-hand knowledge of ”alternatives” investment strategies and investment structures
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze investment decisions and impacts on portfolios
  • Consistently asks thoughtful and critical questions; creative
  • Embraces flexibility and willingness to make contributions outside of their core area of focus
  • Fast and eager learner
  • Maintains a positive personal disposition
  • Ability to prioritize effectively
  • Willing to respectfully challenge others; comfortable staking out and defending unpopular positions
  • Highly effective presenter; persuasive
  • The Candidate will report directly to the Managing Director of Investments, and ultimately to the Senior Vice President & Chief Investment Officer of Exelon.
  • This position requires frequent but irregular domestic and international travel outside of the office, on average 20-30% of the time.
  • The Exelon Investment Office does not make use of a generalist, retained investment consultant or a private equity specific investment consultant. Therefore, the Candidate may have significantly more responsibility and portfolio impact than similar positions at peer institutions.
