The Sr Quantitative Analyst for the Utility of the Future will design and develop proprietary simulation models to support portfolio valuation, pricing, risk management, and overall strategic planning for innovative utility platform initiatives. As a member of the Advanced Analytics team, the successful candidate will collaborate directly with economists, financial engineers, risk analysts, and policy experts. He or she will apply quantitative techniques to measure and analyze model risks and form opinions on the strengths and limitations of the respective models. A solid understanding of traditional financial valuation and modeling techniques along with a strong foundation in programing, statistical methods, and data analysis is essential. 

The successful candidate will: 

- Partner tightly with the project manager and data scientist to lead BGE’s Customer Operations group into data driven analytics

- Be a thought leader in developing Personalized, Simple, Transparent, Flexible, Proactive and Responsive business solutions to drive premier customer experiences 

- Build on BGE’s culture of operational excellence by developing and cultivating strong partnerships, leveraging technology and listening to the voice of our customers to drive business improvements

- Actively challenge current popular values opinions and business processes to substantially benefit the customer experience and execute organizational strategies

- Promote collaboration and teamwork among people at different functions or levels at BGE and Exelon 

- Thrive in a culture of constant change by quickly adapting to changing or ambiguous circumstances while keeping a positive and composed attitude to deliver a premier customer experience 

- Develop creative improvements that are adopted by peers within BGE and Exelon Utilities 

- Actively manage and drive career progression through identification and execution of development opportunities, and proactively network with managers and leaders of BGE and Exelon Utilities

- Invest significant energy and leverage a variety of sources to better understand customers and anticipate their needs 

- Be a leader in building a culture of continuous learning by partnering with Exelon Utilities Analytics, staying on top of current trends and sharing learnings with other employees throughout the organization


Leverage in-depth technical knowledge of predictive analytics, statistics, modelling techniques and simulation approaches to develop valuation, risk management, and pricing models. 30%

Conduct research and produce proof-of-concept demonstration systems to test new quantitative modeling approaches and solutions to complex problems. 20%

Translate quantitative and business concepts into efficient, robust, supportable system design and architecture. 15%

Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to less experienced technical analysts on the team and in the organization. 15%

Partner with IT to develop complex data structures and a business intelligence platform for reporting end user data mining. 10%

Partner with stakeholder analytics teams across BGE and the Enterprise to expand the use and gather feedback on the models and systems. 10%




Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field 

5 to 8 years of relevant experience

Thorough understanding of applied and financial mathematics concepts and techniques (including advanced statistical techniques)

Ability to use a broad range of development languages (e.g. C/C++, Python, Perl, Matlab, etc.), and databases query languages

Ability to quickly master industry fundamental concepts including energy commodity markets, portfolio valuation, and system dynamics

Should be self-driven and able to work in (and lead) team sizes ranging from individual contribution to several members.


Masters or PhD in quantitative field

Energy industry experience

Prior experience in an operation research role

In-depth experience in one or more programing language

Background in applied system dynamics theory

Ideal candidate with have experience performing advanced quantitative analysis and developing and/or validating risk models to support senior managers in running their quantitative strategies.


Work under minimal supervision, relying on knowledge, skills and judgment acquired through education and relevant experience to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals
