Performs and/or manages activities relating to planning, designing, building, and maintaining high quality solutions, products and processes. Creates and assigns detailed tasks to subordinates. Expected to work under minimal supervision.  



The Senior (“Sr”) Manager of EU IT Real-Time Systems Solutions is responsible for the overall leadership, direction and operational ownership of specialized support (Infrastructure, *nix Operations/Engineering, Windows Ops/Eng, and Monitoring & Remote Access). 


The role’s scope includes leading & owning day-to-day operational support of 24/7 critical systems that are leveraged by EU Transmission and Distribution Control Rooms.  The Sr Manager of EU IT Real-Time Systems Solutions will: 

-Own stakeholder engagement and relationship management and act as an escalation point for Data Center and Control Room infrastructure;


-Actively partner and support platform upgrades in conjunction with project delivery team; and


-Partner & collaborate with peer Sr. Managers/Managers to effectively lead, synergistic activities to drive efficiency and reducing declining standards.





Portfolio Operations and Leadership (50%)


- Develop and maintain relationships with IT & business partners; ensure that Real-Time system roadmaps, strategies, processes and requirements are identified and well understood; and participate on committees and forums that drive investment and technology strategy for the supported product portfolio.


- Partner with IT Solution Architects, portfolio SME & business to create and drive portfolio roadmaps and strategies.


- Manage / oversee 3rd-party operational support provider and ensure high quality of service.


- Drive consistency and transparency for both disaster recovery and patching execution.


- Collaborate with other IT stakeholders in the development of 5-year system roadmaps and capital refresh budget forecasts.


- Align skillsets to strategic needs (e.g., Windows, Linux, NERC CIP Standards and “Galaxy Services”) and allow for clear career paths.  “Galaxy Services” are System Management, System Monitoring, and Remote Access tools. 



- Establish and adapt operations methods and processes to achieve results in ambiguous situations. Anticipate issues and obstacles in order to meet operational SLA’s and actively engage team, peers, stakeholders and leadership across geography.


- Partner with internal Project and Support Teams to justify and prioritize investments.


- Champion process improvement, innovation and drive end-user adoption of IT services and standards. Embrace and apply high standards on operational excellence, governance tools and methods.


- Evaluate performance and provide coaching for IT personnel.  Promote diversity and foster teamwork, collaboration, innovation and a learning organization.  Provide input on development and retention processes for IT employees.


Financial and Resource Management (30%)


- Form a team culture with values that match those of Exelon


- Develop thorough application portfolio cost estimates and monitor portfolio financials.  Partners with IT & business to develop business cases & LRP’s that support the broader business roadmap and portfolio strategy.


- Lead and facilitate project business case development and obtaining project approvals


- Manage and/or oversee portfolio budget / financials, including timely financial forecasts, variance analysis and reconciliation


- In partnership with Supply, develop RFP’s and/or statements of work, evaluate proposals, contracts and select vendors to assist in portfolio operations and support.



Project & Program Execution (20%)


- Partner with peer project leadership to provide oversight to all aspects of the program/project life cycle, leveraging matrixed IT, Business and vendor partners through all SDLC phases


- Partner with peer project leadership in delivering program scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed upon time, cost, and quality parameters


- Partner with peer project leadership to deliver high quality project deliverables and required artifacts, including regular status reports on milestones & critical path items, monitoring of metrics, project issues and key decisions


- Ensure effective project transition to production operating support model






- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering)


- Advanced knowledge, demonstrated experience and capabilities in application & platform operations & support


- 7 to 10 years of applications operations and support.


- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to effectively build and manage high-performing teams, as well as develop and maintain effective working relationships across IT department and with multiple Business Unit partners


- Strong oral and written communication


- Strong financial acumen and management skills


- Highly developed interpersonal skills including ability to influence, negotiate, manage conflict, drive collaboration, and facilitate cross-functional, matrixed groups


- Ability to support travel of approximately 25%





- Master’s Degree preferred


- Technical experience in infrastructure technologies (Windows, Linux, NERC CIP Standards and Systems Management / Monitoring)


- Project Management Certification


Other Position Details:


- Total Staff Managed:  Internal employees: 4 to 6 direct reports. Total team size varies depending on infrastructure / geography


- Budget Managed:  Varies depending on infrastructure portfolio assignment(s) – ($5M - $20M)


- This position can adversely or positively impact earnings per share by a combination of the performance of the project, product delivery and overall cost of their delivery


- Expectation to leverage agile approach to drive innovation via automation


- Reports to IT Director, Real-Time
