PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Responsible for electric plant analysis products, such as power systems analysis, fault current analysis, circuit breaker coordination, electric plant stability analysis, voltage drop analysis, and Battery sizing, and DC load flow analysis. Need an understanding of electrical components, digital-based components used in power systems, power plant  operations, and power system analysis.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Perform modeling of plant primary electrical equipment (480V- 500kV)

  • Perform load flow analysis of plant primary electrical equipment (480V- 500kV)
  • Perform fault current analysis and coordination studies for plant primary electrical equipment (120V- 500kV)
  • Perform arc-flash studies for plant equipment
  • Perform modeling of plant 125/250 VDC equipment
  • Perform load flow analysis of plant 125/250 VDC equipment
  • Perform Battery sizing calculations
  • Develop protective relay setpoints for Generators, Transformers, Motors, Buses, and other major plant equipment.
  • Ability to Troubleshoot switchgear and relay controls electrical systems.
  • Ensure that electrical engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and studies are conducted according to IEEE and NFPA standards
  • Occasionally work in the field assisting on shut-downs, startups and maintenance projects.
  • Work with staff on the estimating and bidding of new projects

Department Specific Roles/Responsibilities:

Design Engineering
Defend the plant design and licensing basis. Preparation and approval of design outputs and plant changes in accordance with approved processes and design requirements. Support installation and testing of plant systems and components and facility changes. Ensure the plant’s physical and functional characteristics are accurately reflected in the plant documents. Perform engineering analysis to support plant changes.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • B. S. in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer
  • 5+ years’ engineering experience, specifically in electrical construction OR electrical distribution OR power generation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Involvement and active participation in IEEE and/or EPRI activities
  • Experience modeling motors and dong transient analysis for plant equipment.

  • Experience with software tools to perform above mentioned analyses (e.g. ETap)

  • Professional Engineer Registration
  • Advanced technical degree or related coursework
