The role of the Smart Grid Services Solution Architect is comprised of two, key functions:


Service Delivery Lead (60-70%):

  • Oversees the PECO Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) daily application operations to ensure availability, reliability, efficiency, and performance continuity against established metrics and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Provides leadership to leverage technologies, processes, and disciplines for delivering IT services throughout the standard Exelon IT Operations procedures.
  • Ensures that PECO’s Smart Grid Services projects are well defined, planned and executed, with strong emphasis on communication and testing.
  • Leads and assists the staff responsible for the deployment, maintenance and support of PECO AMI hardware and software.
  • Collaborates with PECO AMI stakeholders and vendors to ensure quality of services and integration needs are met.
  • Ensures that service delivery and customer satisfaction exceed published service levels and coordinates escalation of issues as required.
  • Works with stakeholders to define business and systems’ requirements for new technology implementations.
  • Contributes and adheres to Exelon IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, purchasing and other standards.
  • Develops and responds to appropriate service level agreements/metrics and maintains comprehensive documentation of processes, systems, networks and change-control

Solution Architect (30-40%):

  • Leads the architecture strategy for the Smart Grid Services organization
  • Provides architectural guidance and technical services to AMI support and project teams
  • Manages technical components of small/medium projects
    • Evaluates and defines scope and recommends technical solutions required to address business needs
    • Leads, coordinates, facilitates and collaborates with a broad group of business and technical project resources
  • Proactively addresses significant business issues through technological innovation
  • Works cooperatively with technical and business personnel in other Exelon and vendor organizations to accomplish common goals
  • Provides vendor governance for outsourced contracts and manages contract deliverables and SLAs
  • Establishes and manages effective vendor relationships

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline and typically 5 to 8 years relevant experience.
- Appropriate technical skills.
- Strong knowledge of business practices and processes.
- Experience leading small IT projects or sub-teams and knowledge of IT project management.
- Strong problem solving and analysis ability.
- Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work with remote project teams


- Utilizes understanding of customers business needs to determine requirements
- Applies technical expertise to plan, design, build or support required products and processes
- Helps other team members learn appropriate theories, practices and principles that relate to their skill set portfolio
- As assigned, manage budget for area of responsibility
- Expected to work under minimal supervision
