PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Performs advanced technical/engineering problem solving in support of nuclear plant operations. Responsible for technical decisions. Possesses excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement engineering analysis, activities and programs.
- Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve equipment and system problems.
- Provide complete task management of engineering issues.
- Perform engineering tasks as assigned by supervision applying engineering principles.
- Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work ensuring proper configuration management and assuring that standard design criteria, practices, procedures and codes are used in preparation of plans and specifications.
- Perform independent research, reviews, studies and analyses in support of technical projects and programs.
- Recommend equipment, new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify construction, reduce costs, correct design or material flaws, or comply with changes in codes or regulations.
POSITION SCOPE
You will be a part of the Exelon Centralized Design Organization Mechanical Analytical Group; the ideal candidate will perform mechanical analyses, utilizing programs and hand calculations to support our Nuclear Fleet. As a part of the team you will also assist lesser experienced engineers in performing engineering assignments as well as exercise independent technical discretion when performing engineering tasks (i.e. perform walkdowns, collect data, perform analysis, interpret results, draw conclusions, and clearly present a recommendation to management). This position offers flexibility of working at any of our Nuclear Facilities or Nuclear Regional Offices.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- B. S. in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer and 5+ years’ engineering experience
- 5 or more years’ solid performance
- Demonstration of FLS competencies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced technical
degree or related coursework
Strong problem-solving
skills
Experience with
mechanical analysis software such as Gothic, RELAP5, PipeFlo, ME-101, PIPSYS,
or Autopipe.
Experience in
writing and providing support documentation for mechanical engineering
calculations
Self-starter who
enjoys working independently as well as with a team
Excellent
communication and writing skills
Professional Engineer License or successful completion of the
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and designation as an Engineer in
Training
